So in the mits of getting my car stolen i sold my house in KY. while trying to find something for a DD/Project i can accross this...

1994 GMC Sonoma

140k

4cyl

5spd

alloy Rims

bed liner

tool box

bed rail things (see pix)

cd player....

a Machinc bought it from an auction @ 90k, did some work to it and it became his DD. he just picked up a newer toyota truck so he needed to sell the Sonoma to fix the toyota so i got an AWESOME deal... to me at least!

I only Paid $1300cash for it... it runs and drives great, but has its flaws!

When i got it:

~the stereo was 1/2 outta the dash, if you pushed it in the speakers would shut off.

~the headlight switch was rigged up by your feet because the stock one stipped working

~the heat stopped working the day after i picked it up

~ and it was/is just Dirty and greasy as hell!

So far:

~I just finished fixing the stereo

~I have a switch wired up to mount right below the factoy switch, i just have to cut a hole and mount it now.

~I pulled out the tool box and bed topper/rail things

I have a roll pan on the way, along w/ pre-cut window tint for the sides and rear (20%)

I plan on keeping it fairly clean, nothing major this time around. im gonna shave the 3rd brake light, squrters, and prob the ant., then bagging it and getting some nice 17-18" rims come spring. I AM gonna do ALL the work myself, just like always. im sure ill outsource when needed, but i will be doing all the welding and everything!

It IS gonna be a slow project being as though i only work 3 days a week!! hahaha

At thier door step buying the truck!

Nice Sonoma. I was always a sucker for the dark baby blue on these trucks.

The bed rails you took off, are they going back on or being sold? They look mean as hell and would add just the right touch to my truck, if only they were for a long bed I'd ask if you're selling to the public. Any idea on what brand/make or where the mechanic got them? I'd love to have a set for a long bed.

Chicagoland! About 2+ hours from me. Looks like a solid truck to start with.

Sounds like it's going to be a pretty clean truck. Although a clean, respectable plan, what is the reason for it being a slow build? It's a simple plan with a very reasonable budget for parts...just curious.

Im not to sure on the make of them, ill check 2 see if they have a maker on them when i get home 2nite. i'd sell them if anyones interested. otherwise they are just gonna sit in storage...

Its gonna be a "Slow Build" becasue right now i work @ a Bar in the city and i only work 3 days a week. So w/ my Harley Payment, Rent, Utilities, and my GF i dont have that many extra funds... lol once i get a full time job again it'll move along a lot faster, but till then it's gonna be a slow build

I did Pick up 2x 12" Polk DBs and a 1200 infinity Legacy series amp for it last night though... lol. it isnt running still, but hey i got a good deal on the system! hahaha

Ahh...gotcha. For some reason I was thinking that you were working at that RC Autoworks place. I see now. I'm around 3 hrs. from Chicago. Was just there not too lang ago. My wife heard that the most romantic place to kiss was at the top of the ferris wheel on Navy Pier. Then she drug me to some bunk-a$$ diner where the waiters treat you like crap. On purpose. Then to some old school speak easy where I had to say "Little James sent me" just to get in. It got raided & I had to get on stage & say "you dirty rat" every time the guy pointed at me. That + the crazy drivers makes it a place that I will try to stay away from! But if you need help you can come my way.

I help out every once and a while, but they Just opened a New/Bigger Shop so they dont really have enough money to hire me on yet. 2 Of my buddys went in on the new building together, i didnt wanna take the chance of not having enough money 4 my bills since im the only 1 of the 3 of us that doesnt live @ home! lol.

Chicago is an awesome place, but every time i get stuck in traffic or cut off by a taxi im thankful i live 110 min outside the city! hahaha. Sounds like you had a pretty good time. Shit @ my Bar, on guys B-Days our Lady Bartenders Whoop the shit outta you w/ your own belt, pour taquila (outta thier mouth) down your throught and squeeze a lime in your mouth using thier mouths! hahaha
