any body know a good (permanent) way to put a system worth having in the bed of a standard cab and cutting out and sealing the opening. finally got a system that i am proud to turn up and piss off everyone around me for at least 500ft. and it won't even go in the cab at all , even with the seats out and me sitting on top of the box , so it just won't go in there so i have to put it in the bed. have skill and tools to do just don't know how to do it right the first time and would like some sugjestions from anyone who has done it before .

Use the rubber gaskets that go between a cab window with the glass removed and a camper shell window, or a couple smaller gaskets that go between sliding windows.
Then start a savings account for hearing aids when you go deaf. You want to piss people off, just put the system in the bed and crank it up. No need butchering your truck.

yeah that will work until the weather has it's way with my speakers! and i don't thik the window gaskets will like the body and bed when they twist going over anything but flat pavment.

no those gaskets will be just fine ....they are like a large version of what runs the wires to your doors in your door jam....they flex and move and work great....those are exactly what ya need

iwas told that when you cut it out, make sure that you reinforce te back wall. if god forbid ,you ever get hit ,t-boned,you want something to support ,and stop the vehicle from coming into yopur cab.plus some of the shaping makes the back wall stiffer. plus you dont want your truck to flex too much and pop the rear window... just my dimes worth... mattio :D

I saw a few of these s10's when i took mine to the local mecca boom and tune, I was the only standard cab without a blow through box. Most of the trucks there had a pair of 12" subs in the bed...I beleive the one with type r's hit 150 db....I was trapped to just over 141db maxx since I was using 10's
My local cadence retailer has a ranger with a pair of 15's blowing through to the cab. I highly recommend that you have a locking hard tonneau first, as one day you will come out to go to work and find everything gone. The blowthrough needs to be reinforced, and usually box tube steel painted to match your truck looks good and put a lip on the front of the box and have tabs just inside the wall of the bed to keep the box from sliding. I will try to get a hold of pictures for you of this procedure, and it is not easy, but if you take your time lining it all up correctly, it will look/sound nice. Good Luck

well i have a tonneu cover but it's a soft version . and if i decide to go ahead with the "procedure" it will be bolted in very securely and not gonna be easy to steal.

I wouldn't recommend a cut through at all. Your truck's value will go down to practically nothing. I recently sold my 91 4.3L in decent shape for a whopping $800. I probably could have gotten at least $2000-$2,500 out of it without the blow through. Made me feel like a moron for doing it.
Unless your truck is just a toy, and not your main vehicle, I'd say don't do it.

Trust me, people are very crafty....plus I highly recommend a hard tonneau cover to better protect the box and woofers.....yes you value should drop unless you sell it to a kid who thinks it is awesome!!! LOL hope this helps

yeah , i'm not sure i'm gonna do it . i have a little bit of room behind the seats and i might build the arm rest/glove box into the enclosure. haven't had much time though, think i'll go finish measuring my behind seat area and see what i can squeeze in there. thanks alot for your help and guidance :)

You can always go with some potent 10's...I think you could fit four across your back wall. If you went with alpine, i would hope you hit 150 dB

Ya, I sold the truck :(. It had too many problems and I had too little money. I had to completely redo the brake system after a failure internally. It was too cold to do myself so I paid $400 for someone else to do it. My tires had to be replaced, so I dropped a few hundred on those. After spending over a grand in one summer on a truck who's value wasn't even that, I had enough. The windshield was cracked (thanks 8x8) and was leaking, a power steering hose was leaking, and whenever the vehicle hit a bump or turned, it made a knocking noise. I was just tired of it and it's gas mileage. I now am a proud owner of a 02 Grand AM GT with the 3.4L w/ ram air. It has some bawls.
I kept the 8 8's to toss in the car. I have enclosures for 4 out of the eight molded, but not finished yet. The other 4 still need their enclosures made.

You should invest in some sound dampening. It'll help out ALOT. How much power are you giving those subs? I had one twelve incher behind my seats (bucket seats with the magnet of the inverted sub between the seats) before my blowthrough that hit 143.3 on the termlab. You should be able to get another good 5db's or so.

you know i was thining of doing that , but it would be easier for some one to poke a hole in :( ! plus i have a pair of 12" SPL subs(1200w) and a legacy red series amp (2400w). the back of these subs are big and i'm pretty sure they won,t fit anywhere in my truck.this steup is currently in my monte carlo SS and it's got a ok sized trunk and the box made for the speakers optimum air space barley fits and it sounds ok but it could use a little refinement. maybe a capactor to help with my dimming headlights! i don't know exactlly how my dbls. i can crank otu but it drowns out the road noise at 75 with the windows down. and just think of that in a little standard cab!!!

Well you could sell it and put the $$ forth on a couple of 10's. Those may be easier to put in your cab...im going to face the same thing in a month or so. I do like the idea of 1 12" firing towards the rear, but there again, you still have a proper cu/ft. prob. just my 2¢

If you can find some bucket seats from a same year (or close), toss them in there and invert the subwoofer between the seats. I had a 12" Brahma (decent sized magnet) in between two bucket seats. Worked decently as an arm rest.
