98 4.3 fuel pump problems

well i drove the truck to the gym perfecty and the truck ran great but when i came out the truck wouldnt start ,the fuel pump dosent run on .

no fuses are blown

fuel pump is workin

next would be if the pump is gettin power
?

this happen to anyone befor ?

if your pump kicks on when you turn the key on then its working...it shuts off once pressure is up check your spark

im gonna pull the whole short box off to work on it i gonna install a reciver hitch at the same time

i have no other ideas other than to check power at the pump , well if ther is then i guess i need a new pump . anyone know jow much they are ? wheres the cheapest places eg ; napa?

well press in on the fuel pressure check bung right by the distru ,
an crank it an if nothing comes out then its your fuel pump

i haf th4e ame problem with my 99 an i pulled the bed off ,

i didnt wanna sifen 3/4 of a tank .

check your fuel pump wireing harness ,

dont forget if you take the bed off , you got grounds to the frame ,

i forgot an swithed out pumps like no of em worked ,

i suggest pulling off the bed its way easier than droping the tank its why the gm dealerships wont so they can get more labor

umm hope this helps dont go cheap on a pump

replace fuel filter an run fuel injection treatment

there bout 250-450 dollars , advance , zone , napa , oriellys , all good places
try to get borg warner or gm delco

thanks dude , yeah i lifted the stepside box off man lot easyer to work on , yeah i am gonna check pressure then that dosent work i guess ill replace the pump ,

its soo messed up tho , it was workin minty i just shut off the truck and started the truck like 1hr later it wouldnt start , the pump wouldnt turn on

checked for voltage at the pump and i got a really weak one , but thers 2 othe wires that dont have any power , im thinkin the really weak wire is probley a constant , but theres really no voltage ther on the connector to the pump it says somthin 5v outout or somthin , but i cheked the relay and it just clicks when u turn the key on and off and i was checkin for power it's good on the # 3 termanal on the relay "im not to good with the electrical " but the others i couldnt get any voltage outta them i bet its not the pump and its som stupid ground problem , the truck is lowerd and probleby bumped somthin off it , god this is shity

yeah , it was the pump i bought a new pump and installed it correctly but now i start the truck and it displays a check engine error code , and not it sendin fuel outta the black box thru some selonid and its pissin out by the diff , ?

the grounds to the pump are towards the back connected to the frame on the inside so i dont think it would have been messed with ,

i had the same problem , a new fuel pump wireing harness pig tail from the dealer ship cost 50 bucks fixed it , could also be a relay , switch out your horn relay with the fuel pump relay they are the same trust me if that doesnt help than its not a relay

is it the fuel return ?

I had a problem where the fuel pump would turn on at the first spot on the ignition, along with all my lights and gauges, and then when clicked to start, the fuel pump shut off, my lights blinked, and starter wouldn't ingage!!! As it turned out it was all due to a ground strap on the back of the engine coming loose, and conveniently frying a bunch of electrical stuff. I couldn't figure it out, so I took it to a shop where they happened to have a 99 parts truck, so I only payed for labor....and that was after I helped. I think you are either experiencing this or that your relays have gone bad. Hope you fix it!!!!

found out the problem had put the return when the emmsions vent valve box hose in the wrong side had the return hose , lol fixed and works minty , man this pump gose again im puttin in a after market high performance pump , but yeh thanx for the help :)
