I have my Hayes manual here. Here it is for ya.
"If youre working on a 4.3L V6 equipped with CPI fuel injection, remove the air intake plenum. Detach the vacuum line from the EGR valve vacuum tube."
I hope you know what the plenum is...I sure don't.

i hope it means the air hose connected to the throttle body, otherwise i have no idea either.. thanks for the info.

i think theair intake plenum is the upper part of the intake manifold , but not sure . i had to put one in a 95 blazer with the same motor as yours, it was a real bitch but i got it in there and removing the upper intake would make it alot easier. i can't remember if the throttle body is acually part of the intake or not but i think it is and that is why they would tell you to remove the plenum or eles thy would tell you to remove just the throttle body . hope this helps.

i got it out, if you twist it just right, rotate it just right, and smile real big while standing on one foot, you can wiggle it loose. thanks for the help

onthecheap, i have a question for you. you said in another post that you had fuel puddling up in the intake, did you have to take off the entire intake, or just the plenum (top of the intake) to find it and the inner fuel lines.. and did this fix your problem?? i hear the fuel lines in there can crack and leak fuel, also the nut kit(?) can go bad and puddle fuel. what did you do and how hard was it to do all this?

i only had to remove the top half , i was replacing the injector . also i replaced the egr valve and the feul pump was replaced by someone else and none of it worked! still ideled like it was getting ready to stall, smoked enough to notice and fuel mileage went way down. i didn't replace the lines though , i couldn't find anyone that supplied them or could even get them i think they didn't know what i was talking about? but i was flipping throug my new LMC cataloge and they had a kit that had the fuel lines that were inside the manifold. don't know the exact contents but it looked like it comes with a retainer or something like that to seal them to the lower intake. and the good thing is that it was pretty easy to get the upper intake off and it was easy to see where the lines come in.

so its still not fixed?? i also read to check your coolant temp. sensor, engine temp. sensor, and your timing could be causing the problems, on some gm motors with >80k miles, the knock sensor can retard the timing thinking that increased engine noise is knock..and cause arcing in the cap-rotor. this is an odd problem and could be several things, so finding the exact culprit without replacing a whole bunch of expensive parts is going to be tough
