$1k to blow on your dime...pretty sweet. you could save and put that towards a supercharger, or invest in several bolt-ons, maybe headers, exhaust, intake, you could buy all kinds of goodies. just go to truckperformance or stylin concepts and browse around...see what you like... ;-)
if my truck was stock and i had a grand...i'd do headers, exhaust, and try out a volant intake...
be a good lad and try out a manifold spacer...let us know how that works out...j/k

Gibson Stainless Side Swept Catback- $362+ $8.95 handling, free shipping
Flexalite 60 Efan- $200+ $8.95 handling , Free shipping
March Power and Amp series 2260- $100 and some change and handling fees
Those are from Summit. Dont bother with Truck Performance, slowest highest shipping in the USA . Stylin is OK, but not really too keen buying performance stuff from them, a little higher in price with shipping.
Ebay Chrome Intakes S10 4.3 Intake. 2 piece alum tubes and K&N filter
Then get one of those Alum 12 inch heat shields someone else on ebay sells.
Both together will be under $100 and do everything a big dollar intake system will do for less than half the cost.
Also watch ebay for a Jet Tuner, or a Crane one, HPP sucks, Supechips pings or even consider a Wait4me Performance mail in tune. Could get the Jet and or Crane just around $300, or wait4mes custom tune which is better for $150.

Old Man has a bunch of good ideas. May I also add one more by suggesting maybe going for a junkyard rear end with a gear ratio lower then yours (numerically higher)? If you shop around you can get on complete ready to go on for around 250. You will loose a little top end speed but the low-end gains will be very noticeable. You could then go right around and sell your old rear end recoup some of the costs. It is just a thought.
just buy $1000 worth of drugs and turn around and make $3000

S/C is nice, but your not gonna find one under $2500 and that leaves $1500+ to come up with. Then a SC kit isnt as complete as it should be and will run another $500 or so to make it right. Then someones gonna say used, screw used , you dont save anything. Any SC is gonna need bearings every 25K and if you cant do it yourself ,SC makers charge gadsoods for $40 worth of bearings making it a $500+ job. Then they'll say the impeller is damaged and end up at $700 by the time its done.
As much and pretty much everyone would like a SC, its really something that should be seriously thought out. Do you need the truck everyday or is it a part time thing. If you say everyday, forget the SC all together!
