My Grandpa has recently had brain surgery and suffers from chronic seizures... This being said he had his liscence taken away. So he had no use for his truck anymore, and decided to give it to me. The only bad part is it is a '03 Ford Ranger :frustrate
but i am happy to have a vehicle to drive now... plus it is a v6 (3.0 I believe) but I'm still countin the time till it breaks down.

I had a 96' Ranger before my s10 and I had absolutely no problems with it.
And I have had a few problems with my s10 so far and my s10 is newer than the Ranger was too. I think it's all about how you care for the truck, not who makes it.

honestly, Laid out bagged Rangers look better than S10s.

It's good that you got a new truck, but the way you got it sucks. Is your grandfather doing better now?

I second that... s10's are so much cleaner looking

he is doing better now (he had lost all feeling in his left side) and he is a heafty almost 300 pound guy so it was really hard to get him up and down stairs.
but he has started kemo. and is able to walk on his own again.
truthfully the only reason i havnt put it up for sale is the fact that he gave it to me and i know that we will be very lucky if we have another year with him... so it has alot of sentimental value to it

Don't knock the Ranger. That 3.0 v6 is actually a very good and reliable engine if you don't race it or beat on it. And I think those trucks look pretty good, unless it's something like gold with donkey poo-colored interior. My dad had a '93 and he drives about as hard as I drive my S10- like every commute is an autocross race. He maintained it properly, though, and sold it with over 250k miles on it. Just enjoy and take care of your gift from your grandpa.

yeah it deffinetly has alot more "get up and go" than my 2.2l but there are 2 things i don't like about it... 1 its an automatic (i just hate drivin an auto) and 2 it shifts weird. but other than that it really is a smooth ride.
one thing i have to say is the first day i got it i took it over the train tracks at a speed lower than i would take my s10 over it and the rearview mirror jumped off and hit me in the head and the heater turn thing came off too (i was going like 10 mph  )

I got great news!
I'm taking my truck to get fixed this weekend!
I will probably give my mom the Ranger so she doesn't have to drive that POS mini van anymore.
Only bad news is I have to drive my truck almost 4 hours to get it fixed, and my truck has no insurance, the tags expired in october, the door is just kinda hanging on and its loud... so its going to be a slow... cop paranoid... boring ride... ohhh and i have no cd player haha
