Wax on Wax off

Just curious to know what everyone does to upkeep their paint.

Rattle can every few months?
Wax and polish every week?

I Just got through wet sanding my truck with 2000grit, buffed it with meguiars clean cut polish and waxed the crap out of it.

Zaino (http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc) I use car wash, and polishes from zaino. It's the best stuff I have ever used. Very easy to apply, and looks great.

i wash my truck myself at the car wash. wax about once every 1 1/2 to 2 months with Turtle wax.

zymol is the best wax you can get. wal-mart must have discontinued it because they had a red tag on it and it was waaaay cheap. i should have picked up a few bottles.....

i wax mine once every few months.

i heard that waxing a truck/car too much can be bad to? is this true? also i had the whole nose of my truck repainted injune (accident) and was told not to wax for 6 months! should i wait or wax it...its been like 2 months

nickr, wait to wax it. There's no reason to wax it anyway if it has just been painted. It doesn't NEED wax right away and most of our trucks don't need it as much as we do it. Wait until the paint has cured at least 3 or 4 months, then give it a very light waxing if you can't wait any longer. It shouldn't need it for a while though.

Yes, you can wax too much. In severe cases of overwaxing the wax may take on a yellowish tinge and look bad. Normally the natural elements slowly wear the wax layer away (rain, flying dust, etc.) and you periodically build up the protective layer with a new coat or two.

you cant wax it after its just been painted it can ruin the finish and make it all cloudy...but yes i haven't waxed mine since end of summer...i dont see the point in waxing it in the winter but in beginning of s[ring i usually wax her then if i need to touch it up ill use ice detail spray...course wash it every week too :)

I'm the lazy one who uses Meguiars spray-on haha...stuff is gone in like a week..haven't wet sanded or buffed new paint yet though, nevermind waxed it.

Few weeks...thing started crappin out on me...intake mani gasket....valve cover gaskets...waterpump...heater house..whole motor=junk...you know haven't gotten the time for it..Might not even wet sand n buff looks damn good right now...not ready for wax yet

yeah that was what I was about to say, you have to wait 90-130 days to put wax on.

oh, and the motor,I wouldn't call it junk, just replace the stuff you know is bad with new or used but in good condition parts. that is what I do. I have gone through 2 carbs,3 fuel pumps,2 water pumps, and replaced all the seals and gaskets on my motor and now she runs like a champ and no leaks anywhere.

I think a lil TLC will fix your motor, people thought my truck was junk because it sat untouched in a barn for 20+ years and was only used for lawn care but I proved them wrong and it thunders down the street.

Yeah get what you're sayin..just did intake mani gaskets n valve cover gaskets just not botherin with anymore gettin the remanufactured and get my warranty..pretty much every other part on the things new..Haha my truck was one of dads for the fence company, was a rotbox but i saved her, now it's up at bondo-buggy level..worst thing was the interior was dissssguuustingggg haha after goin throught countless bottles of carpet cleaner and steam cleaning I surrendered and bought the carpet..did some interesting things to mount in some 05 canyon seats i got a deal on...still in the plastic for 100$ shaddddyyy but a bargain all the same : )

It's got some black now after those pics, did the bedliner n bedlined rockers got a pair of cheap-o black cragar rims to mount drag radials on but they looked good so orderin up the other 2...haha when i get it back there will be, got some junk tires to burn
