I have a 2003 s10 extended cab and was wondering what the correct tire pressure is? Any help is appreciated.

35psi (at least thats what I run in my tires) look on your tires it should say (my guess is 35PSI ).

anywhere from 32 psi to 35psi....if ya fill them at 32 when cold it will expand to about 35 once the tires heat up and the air expands

I have 245/45/17's and I run 35-40psi front and 25psi rear.

Two things:

A. Always set your tire pressures when the tires are cold

B. Don't go by the reading on the tire, set your tires to the pressures listed on the
door.

Do not! I repeat! Do not run your tires to the reccomended tire pressure on the door. Remember the Ford explorer roll overs! The door said 28lbs and that was for a different series tire! The reccomendatins on the door is for 205/75/15 and I know that is not the case for most of us. You need to run your fronts at 35 and at a minimum on the rear you should run 32 to 30. Low tire pressure is dangerous and unefficient

over inflating can be just as dangerous ... the door sticker is a good guage of what to air up your tires to. also take into consideration any mods done to the truck( ie low pro's will most likely take a higher pressure)

the Explorers roll over Because the tires suck AND the handle like crap.
on stock tires something around 30psi front and rear is ok, but on if you have different size tires like the 245/45/17 on my truck 30psi all around wont work!
If you run 30psi on the rear you will wear the tire in the middle meaning the whole tore is not contacting the ground which is BAD. After driving my truck for over100K miles on this tire size I can say that the best pressures are 35psi front ( a bit higher if racing) and 25psi rear ( a bit lower when drag racing).

that is a good point, mixed with an bad example. the recomended pressure IS ONLY FOR THE SIZE listed. if you change sizes you need also to adjust pressure accordingly. i forget the formula for what/how much. i run 35psi all around on my 235/45r17's and it is working fine for me.

if you notice the center of the tread wearing fast DROP the pressure a couple of pounds. if you notice BOTH edges wearing fast raise it. one edge wearing fast means you have a bad alignment.

with the explorer they were running a tire underrated for the weight of the vehicle, plus trying to tune out rough ride complaints by lowering air pressure. when i sold tires, i always recomended explorers to go to an LT235/75r15 tire and run 35psi in them.

Thanks for all the help. It was really appreciated.

Pressure too low leads to uneven wear and worse mileage due to rolling friction and excessive heat buildup. Too high, and the pressure will increase too much and you may have a blowout plus you will still wear the tires unevenly. I run about 33-34 in my front tires and 30 in the rear. (that's cold pressure). Your pressure will increase by approx. 1 psi with every 10 degree rise in the temp of the tire (also the reverse). Iit will also change with the ambient temp if your truck just sits.
