well awhile ago, while i would be driving highway speeds, it would seem like the four wheel drive would kick in or something. the front end would start vibrating.. it always seem to be on the right side. but i would have to slow down to like 25 or 30 mph and right before it would quit, it would pop or something. when i did, it felt like id jus ran over like maybe a small pipe. the light on the 4x4 shifter would always be on 2 wheel until it did this then the light would go out.. after i slowed down and it would pop, the 2 wheel drive light would comeback on..and i could speed up again..the vibrating in the front right when it did this felt like the wakeup strip on the side of the highway but not quite as bad..it done this maybe 10 to 15 times thought 9 or 10 months, hasnt done it for awhile now.. i got stuck in the mud 2 days ago, couldnt get the 4x4 to pull itself out had to call a friend to pull me out. but yesterday it sleeted like hell here and i put it in 4 high driving down the highway and did not have any problems at all, not even if i hammered the gas..so apparently the front end was locked in and pullin..so what else could the problem be if the vaccuum actuator is working? could the vibrating actually been something in the front diff , maybe the splines grinding? what position is the cable to be in when it is supposed to be in 4 wheel drive? the cable pulled out of its housing or pushed into the housing?? im lost...thanks for the help in advance.

are the gears in the front gear housing the same on all 91-93 blazers the same? was thinkin there are 2 or 3 posts in the forum where someone is wantin to make a 4x4 blazer a 2x4. so i was thinking if their 4 wheel drive works good, and they pull all of the front drive out then i could possibly buy it from them. then i could replace all of the seals and wareable parts and throw it up in my truck..so if any of you tryin to get rid of the 4x4 wanna pull it out let me know. if your close enough ill possibly buy & pay for shipping..

Check your local junkyards first because you will end up paying twice for the same part due to shipping. It's heavy, and needs to be packaged well due to it's odd shape so it adds to the cost.

Whatever your rear gear ratio is, you'll want to match that with your front gear choice. You don't HAVE to match the same gear ratios but I doubt you want to be running different tire sizes just to make the drivetrain happy.

I have a front differential out of a 93 S10 4x4. It has 3.08's needs rebuilding. PM me if you're interested.

yes i know they are heavy and will cost alot for shipping..hints the reason why i said if you live close enough. lol. the closer the person the cheaper to ship. but i think i found a whole truck close by..

try looking at the shift lever first take the plastic console off and remove the rubber boot and check to make sure the lver is staying locked in the 2 wheel drive postion . Does the center button on the lever pop up or is it always down?

it is something under the front end causing it not to work right. the shifter is fine.

If i'm right the shifter has locking points .The only reason i said check the shifter is because if the elec sensor is showing it's in2 wheel then when it starts making noise it goes ot it seems like the shifter is slipping

you are right the shifter does have locking points on it jus the same as an automatic floor or console shifter.. mine locks into each notch like it is supposed to. the shifter is not slipping into 4 high or nothing the shifter can be locked into 2 wheel drive and when it done the vibrating the would turn the light for 2x4 off..but as i said it no longer vibrates. so there for that light is not doin that no more..the problem is something to do with the axle housing or cables or something..the shifter it self is not the prob. any one know anything about the electric plug that plugs into the axle housing right nest to the where the cable goes in..does it go to the selector switch under the shifter console?
