I have some right angle 3157 red leds that I have bought off ebay and some 50w resistors. I have wired them up several ways to no avail (parallel and in line). I got them to work sort of in parallel, but my cluster flashes when I signal and when I have the running lights on they don't work at all. Has anyone wired up leds in their tail lights before?

I bought some LEDS from the local autozone and all I did was plug them in. They worked just fine without any resistors or anything.

Bump for help. Heres the links to the stuff I bought on ebay. LEDs are first.

I have been thinking about my dilemma for the past few days and one way that may remedy my problem is to have 4 resistors all together. Most people when they install LEDs they are replacing a bulb that serves one function. Our s10 tail lights serve 2; turn and running/break. I'm going to wire up the two resistors I have on one side and see if that works. I hope this also solves the cluster blinking too. If anyone has a cheaper way that would be great.

That didn't work either. I did notice that when I step on he breaks I hear a relay turn my parking lights on too. Plus during this bulb change I blew the break/turn filament in the original bulb. :frustrate Now I need to replace it.

Any updates 20twinz?

Have you wired them up as per instructions for a dual bulb system?? as per instructions on the ebay site???
If you have you might also need a relay to cope with the quicker flash.
Not sure.

I don't have any flash or break lights when my running lights are on. The led bulbs are the same brightness. I only have normal flash and break lights when no lights are on, with the resistors I bought and wired correctly. I'm thinking of rewiring my reverse light to be a red running light and forget about making the leds perform 2 tasks, break/turn and running. Here's the link to the wiring diagram for the resistors I bought. It shows wiring for a dual purpose light.

Cant really see this from the diagram but does the LED bulb have two sets of LEDs...........that is does one set work with brakes and the other with side lights. This is the only way they should work. You can check this by looking to see if only half the bulb comes on at a time???
If you dont have two sets of LEDs in the bulb then they will never work how you wanted and your last idea with the reverse light sounds good.
Did that make sense??

Yeah, they all work at once. I'm going through with the rewiring after I get another pair of red leds for the new running lights.

Hey, sorry about last week I forgot that my lil bro took the batt. out of my truck for his exploer and when I went to start it, well, no batt. I should be getting it back this week tho so i when i do i will let you know what happens. I have LEDs in my front upper signal/running light, lwer turn signal/running lights and in the rear i have all the bulbs replaced with LEDs. Like I said, when I get my batt. back i'll let you know. I hope I have better luck then what you are. :frustrate

Insert bulbs-discard resistors-insert electronic flashers-problems goes away like magic unless the bulbs are installed wrong. If bulbs don't flash-move them 180 degrees in the socket.

Where are the electronic flashers located?

So when I got my truck started again here last weekend I threw in my LEDs in the rear....same problem. Flashes fast. HAs their been a resolution to sove this problem yet that works?

Electronic flashers are needed because the new leds don't provide the resistance that the old flashers need to perform correctly. The owners manual should show where the flashers are, and it's simple to replace them.

I don't have an owner’s manual, so I went out and bought a Haynes from AutoZone. BTW the flasher is behind the glove box, on the right, and secured by a green plastic strap. The E. flasher didn’t solve the problem either. The flasher I bought was an EP-28 from Advance because AutoZone didn't have any in stock or on order. The E. flasher sounded worse than the stock flasher and didn't solve the no flash when the running lights were on. I also found that the LEDs that I have work in the front turns with a hyper flash, but not the tails still.

  I think i'm just going to leave the red bulbs in the rear and the LEDs up front.
