View Full Version : 99 Ext Cab aka "The Brown Noise"

My friends around columbus and on OMT have dubbed my truck "The Brown Noise" because of the annoying exhaust and a system that is almost comp worthy as I placed top 5 at the last CCA event here in columbus.
Its been 2 years with the truck now and I have many adventures with it. From a clogged Cat coverter to tossing passengers out of the bed and being put in time out.
March 2006 - Used $5600 of the lot with 78K on it. 2.2L Auto.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v682/GrimJoe/mys102.jpg
August 2006 - First time it was broken into
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v682/GrimJoe/PictureorVideo055.jpg
June 2007 - Wrapped a Pole. Insuranced listed as totaled and would not cover it, so I did it the hard way and took out a loan. $3600
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v682/GrimJoe/PictureorVideo167433.jpg
June 2007 - 2 Weeks later I get her back good as new. 3rd door sticks a bit but thats cool.

Not to jack this thread but I have some of those I would sell.
I was going to put them on my 56 but I decided to go with some Akuza Creepin 20's.
They were on this truck before Drunk Roger lived up to his name.

one thing I liked about my extremes was the deep look they gave off. They are going for some powdercoating because I am owed a favor. So they are gonna play around with them. a High Gloss Satin Black might make em look good. The trick will be the center caps.

$900. They have 225/45/17's on them because I thought that 215/40's that are in these pics would be way too small for my 56.
Justin_614
03-21-2008, 08:00 PM
Whats the width on em? My cragars are 17x8 and combine that with a 235/45 tire its limited turning.
mreed
03-22-2008, 07:16 AM
They're 8" wide. Zero offset. They didn't rub. It may be because I had a 1/4" spacer behind them.

So I got another 1 1/2" of drop today. Buddy of mine had a belltech 3/4 coil and block kit, but he totaled his truck so I traded my PS2 and like 20 games for it. I took Mikes design for the blocks tho and remade them so they are a 4" drop and a 5* of pinion angle correction. So I went from a 2" drop coil and 3" block to a 3 and 4. Combine that with the 2/3 drop of spindles and leafs = 6/7 :frustrate
Then I got some tires for that LS1 intake and the LS Block I had ( Honestly had no interest in a V8, was just impulse) They are 215/40/17 General Exlaims (Love em)

i like it, I couldn't slam mine that low though cause of all the potholes and other bulls*@t we have to deal with in maine. I'm thinking that in my town i would have that thing caught on the frame in min jus driving to the gas station. However nice truck man keep up the progress it's looking good.

If I wasn't gonna get a new car in the next few months, I would buy an extended cab second gen......

Take the stock tire size compared to new. 225/75/15 - 215/40/17 + Add in Sag you get 6-7.

i'm kinda supprized you didn't bag it if you live in that kind of area but it is kinda expensive. idk i've watched these lil cars draggin there frames and what not over speed bumps and what have ya and just have no ambitions in lowering my truck and subjecting it to that abuse without having some sort of height adjustments available just for sake of mentality on my part. It would drive me nuts

I had to raise it up just a hair to slide the can under sideways. For somewhat of an example...even though the body looks a mess, I spent a long, looong time dialing in the suspension to perform exactly the way I want. That pic is 1/8" off of the ground @ 5 psi. I have zero wasted bag travel. I ride daily @ 15 psi.
Officially hits the road tomorrow! (unless it rains).

Another S10 lol... Its an 01 reg cab, Cando Specialialties Reverse Cantelever 5 link. Air lift Dominatiors in the front and some Re7's in the back. 2.2L 5 Speed with 80K on it. Interior needs some work (Painting some Pieces), and the bed needs some work. But thats why I am selling my truck, because it just sits most of the time and I want something new that I can work on... I will have some pic's up later.

The suspesion work is great. Completely done. The air management needs better placed, that and the bed needs some work. Probly just gonna swap out for a step side. Probly wont be painted Justin brown due to the paint costing so much. Probly gonna go with a dark violet or a burnt orange. Or my dream is hot pink with some 18x9 KMC Rockstars

I was looking at those last night in a google search. They look kinda cool on the whole bunch of big trucks, but didn't see any good shots of low trucks on them. It will be interesting to see how they look. Those other ones you have now would probably look pretty good with a black powdercoat, or better yet black center with a polished lip. What size are you going to use?
Seriously with the pink then?

Step side box...GREAT idea! Shave 3rd and handles, swap mirrors, black projector headlight/signal combo, throw on the missing vallance, 18 or 20" black wheels with a polished lip, and paint that biznotch burnt orange and oh, oh, oh, sorry. I get carried away sometimes when I see a good thing. :) My mind just wonders with excitment and ideas...lol. Nice ride! Glad to see you kept with the dime sceene. I'm feeling those rockstars over the chromies, however i feel if your gonna do the truck in hot pink I would though on some graphics. One would not paint thier vehicle bright pink unless they wanted a wild attention grabbing paint job so why not go all out, the truck is deff worthy of going all out besides look at minitrucking magazing jus to name one and all i bet with the hot pink paint and some graphics that truck could nail a cover and or feature in a heartbeat.
