I don't know what the means, but in order to get the light shut off you need to clear the code, which means hooking it up to an OBDII (or OBDI, depending on the age) code reader and clearing the code

Can't you unplug your battery for a while and drain your ecm(?) by pressing the brakes for a little bit?

98 plus just pull the ECM and batt fuse with the key on and not running. That clears the code, then shut the key off and reinstall the fuses. Could be that the throttle plate is stuck more open than normal and the IAC cant compenstate enough. Make sure there is no buildup around the throttle plate and it is going back against the stop screw and the plate is sealing. Could also be the IAC valve is stuck with carbon in it and that can be removed and cleaned out, unless its all together bad and needs to be replaced!

Usually unhooking the battery will do but Autozone will clear for you just ask them to pull the code an then ask then to clear them before their done. The code will come right back if you don't fix the problem. Check for vaccum leaks and loose TBS plug and binding linkages.

might also want to check pcv valve. pull it out and shake it.....it should make a rattling sound.
