im wantin to do a 4 in body lift. im curious how high i can go without mods to the steering column..its no big deal to do the mods and i will if need be..but what do you all think is to much in the way of a body lift? ive done the torsion bars and shackles but thats not tall enough..wantin to keep the cost down.

The body lift made for your truck is the one I'd use. Any higher than 2" changes the pivot point of your body mounts making your center of gravity too high for the body bolts to safely sustain. Unless you're never planning on cornering around a parking lot, exiting the freeway via an off-ramp, or being slightly pitched to one side while off-road, then go with a simple hockey puck body lift however tall you want.

A body lift should not be the sole method of lift.

well there is nothing else available for the suspension as far i as know..since it has the torsion bars..without redoin the a-arm brackets and the front axle housing brackets. and the bars are maxed out. so what other options are available for the front?

And on top of those lifts, there is the 5" BDS lift.

You might want to check state laws. A lot of states limit a body lift to 3" by law.

A 3" bodylift will bind the steering shaft at the steering column and also destroy the rag joint on the steering shaft to the gearbox. Remove the stock steering shaft and get the double U-joint steering shaft out of a Jeep. This will also tighten up the steering for a very nice upgrade. I believe the shafts were used in Jeep Wranglers or Cherokees and only cost $15-25 at a wrecking yard. You can also find the shafts on Ebay for $50-75.
