while changing transmission filter... problem

Hey all
I am changing the fluid and filter in the 2000 2wd s-10 is there a trick to removing that cable linkage that sits on the drivers side of the pan?

I was able to get the one U shaped metal clip pulled out. But past that I cant figure it out.
Any helpful tips are appreciated.
