The 2009 ZR1 Corvette

So i just found out today there is a ZR1, and god is it awesome! I'm curious to see what people think about it. Everyones heard it and with a VERY limited amount of them, its going to be rare to see one. the LS9 puts out 600+ hp and its valued at a little over 100,000$ and its worth every penny. it has the same frame as the Z06 but tuned Independent suspension to fit the wheels. the back wheels have 20" rims and are 12" wide! while the front at 19" rims and 10" wide.

i'd be sitting outside and i'd be in a chair holding a beer in one hand, a 12 gauge shotgun in my other. and i'd have a voice, retinal, and finger print activation to just see the glass that is around it lol i refuse to let anyone touch that car

z06 did 7:40 when the zr1 one did a unoffical 7.26 in the nurburgring ,

bad thing about it is the msrp will be like 103k but the dealers will have a fun with you jacking that up to 20% an people would gladly pay for it , but for a top speed of 205 mph i would complain ,

the bugati goes for like 1.5 mill and does 254

yeah but the new viper's smoked both the GT-R and the ZR1. it did it in like 7:22 i think, the GT-R was 7:28. the ZR1's are going for like 90-100K+. the Viper's are 90,000 roughly, and the GT-R is about 80 grand (which i thought was low but they aren't an import)

I just helped do this with a naturally aspirated 7.0L, it's not difficult with well worked over heads, a great tune and a mild camshaft. It pains me to see the ZR1 needing so much boost to make so little horsepower but I know GM's claims are all on the conservative side to save on insurance rates for it's buyers. I don't think it really matters though, if you're buying a $100k+ car to drive on weekends, insurance is an afterthought.

I would like to see where you found this. According to everything that I have found, it has out performed the Z06 (which is 30G's cheaper), but the specs on the Viper are all lower then the ZR1 that I have found.

scroll down for the ZR1 spec's. the zr1 has more horsepower and more torque, but the viper beat it.

Driver error. Put the ZR1 into the hands of someone who knows how to drive a boosted vehicle and you'll shed 5 seconds like liposuction.

I'd still prefer the LS7 over the LS9 as the base platform for the ZR1 but I am glad to see the technology that went into the LS9. The oil spray cooling is a nice touch.

I like all 3 mentioned, vette for over all looks power and appeal and well I'm obviously a chevy guy. Viper pure power, plus it really feels like an animal just sitting in one let alone the year ( I sat in a 98 gts). Then there is the GTR, I see alot of potential here, I think with the proper upgrades this car would give both a run for thier money. Plus japanesse reliability has a lot going for it, fuel economy, and just the fact it's the R34 GT-R predecessor makes already a popular choice. it'll be interesting to see who dominates. However audi is now offering it's internals to the supercar world, I think this is also gonna be a car that truely needs to be watched.

Motor Trend i just saw in there latest magazine has the zr1 vs the ferrari 599...the ferrari being the victor in the end. The author of the article basically announced the zr1 as a new super car killer.

You see, I think the car is beautiful and all...but if I was to ever aquire one, it would be cut into little pieces and donated to a S-10. I alredy cut up a 03 silverado for my 93 dime (project drives but not finished), and cut up a 02 camaro for my 98 noma (project is in the aquiring more parts stage.) I been down for a while, bad year, but the lady is gone so theres no excuses anymore....Im just not a car person i suppose.
