i have a 1993 jimmy 4.3w vortec with the 4l60e tranny..

the problem is once in a while, well more than once in a while.. when i drive sometimes it feels like the tranny is dragging and other times it feels normal ..

now i noticed that also once in a while my cruise control doesnt work, very intermitent.. so one day i'm feeling this tranny drag while im driving and decided to put it into cruise.. the cruise did not work..

another time like later that day when the tranny feels like it is working good.. the cruise works.. this isnt just a one day coincadence ive determined that now everytime the tranny doesnt feel right the cruise wont work..

i am not trying to fix the cruise problem i am trying to determine the tranny problem, and when that is fixed im sure the cruise will be working.

i had it to gm for something and got the dude to check my codes because once in a while on the highway my check engine light comes on.. he determined (code 37 i think it was)that it was my brake switch and showed me that with a test light on one of the 2 -2pin(furthest from the brake pedal) plugs that it in fact was showing that it was on(like i was pressing the brake pedal) and when i you unplug it .. it shows the problem gone on the tester .. calling this the brake light swtich and something about the lock up converter on the other plug..

i pulled my switch today and cleaned up ther inner terminals and tested it with an ohm meter and it works exactly like a new one does..

sooooooooo.. does anyone have any other suggestions or has any one had this problem before

ANY help will be appreciated..Corey

ok so the code is

dtc 37 "brake switch stuck on"

"if" the brake switch is new .. where would one look after that, if it not the switch i mean..

It sounds like it is the brake switch. When it is on or pushed down, it disconnects the lockup torque convertor and disengages the cruise control. If you have a new switch already installed it may be bad or the wire connections to the switch may be loose or not crimped good. The next area would be to check the wires where they plug into the four prong plug on the driver's side of the transmission itself. The only other place would be inside the trans and you may as well do a fluid/filter change while you have the pan off. Good luck and keep us posted. :)
