hey everyone im pretty stumped on my 94 sonoma problem. i was driving it home the other night and it shut off on me. i started it back up and drove again for a while until it quit again. this time when i tried to start it i could get it running but it kept tryin to die n i had to stay on the gas to keep it runnin. i towed it home n was thinkin it had to be something fuel related so i changed the fuel filter hoping it was that easy. started right up so i took it for a test drive, fine, got home decided to let it idle for a while, 5 min later it quit. i let it cool down for say 20 min then it started again so i left it runnin n like another 5 min it shut of again. it just struggles for a bit then dies. also the windshield wipers start wipin when its abou to die. this sound weird but u can tell when its about to quit cause they start wipin all by themselves witht the switch off. im pretty baffled any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

sounds like you have an electrical problem somewhere. I would start by checking your fuse boxes for any crossed wires, then your connections to your engine control module for any faults or the possibility of a wire or two grounding out. Last I would check your ignition module/wires. My father's Impala had a problem similar to yours, he would be driving along and the engine would just quit/stall out. Went through all the possibilities (fuel pump, filter, screen, etc...) and it turned out his ignition module where the key went in was worn down and it wouldn't make solid contact anymore. So try all of the electrical possiblities first before replacing any major parts :-)

Check the battery connections. I had a similar problem and found corrosion under my positive connector. I cleaned it out and it worked fine until the battery crapped out on me.

I have the same problem with my 1997 s10 4cy 5 spd. But also the ecm fuse blows when it cuts off. I replace Ecm, Wiring, and module, and still it cuts off on me. Did you get your problem fix yet.
