Is this a good brand to buy? Also how hard are these things to install, and do you really need the one with the thermostat? Heres a link I found, would this fit on my 1996 2.2L 5 spd? I jus need some more power and better fuel economy, and thought this would be the road to take. Any help is appreciated.
That's a great idea, and the flex alite s10 kit is the best. Yes, use a thermostat and the a/c relay that is in the same unit. It will all run on its own. Very easy to install with some electrical knowledge. Will help you with your mileage and power. It's kit # 60. Remove the lower shroud and also the upper, but cut the curve off the upper part and reuse it. Toss the lower one. FLexa lite says reinstall the stock shroud around it, but you don't need to. That's pointless. PM me if you have any specific questions. I have this fan, but I may not check back to this thread.

I also found this one of Summit, its a 15 in diameter, but I think its the same thing...
part # FLX-30, cant really post a link cause summit is gay like that.
Which one is better suited for my application?
well, what i suggest is that you go with the #60. It's $215 from summit, but i found mine on ebay a about a year ago for $150. try ebay first. This kit has FAL's universal 15" 2800cfm fan, s10 specific mounting brakcets, themostat and a/c relay all built into the fan shroud. It's an unbeatable deal. you don't have to do anything but plug in wires. It's the cleanest and easiest to install and you mount the fan to the top and bottom of the rad and not through the core, which decreases cooling ability. Go with the #60 kit and you'll be glad you did after you see how much trouble you'll have saved yourself. Go with just a fan, and you'll have major setbacks with trying to wire up relays to the a/c and a thermostat. You don't want to run it without those 2. You WILL forget to turn it on and that's not good. this kit will run itself and i have had no probs with mine. I give free, yet great advice to everyone here, so be smart and take it. ;)
I think this is the fan Sam is talking about. Flex-a-lite Black magic (http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=13393&parentCategoryId=10117&langId=-1) Scroll down to #400-60
That's it. fits 98-up also. They don't ever seem to tell anyone that. Bad marketing seems to me. If the fan fits 98- up also, couldn't they sell more of them by advertising that? I think it's because the newer radiators are wider or something like that, but it works just fine.

It says it only fits a 2.5-4.3L, but will it still work on my '96 2.2L? And all I can find on eBay are the universal ones.
