I have a 98 S10 2.2l auto. I have no heat and i cant figure out why. The temp gauge is reading at normal. I also have an e fan but i know thats got nothing to do with it. Just for the hell of it i replaced the thermostat and of course fixed nothing. Also the 2 lines that run into the heater core are hot, any my fluid was full, so i know thats not leaking. Anyone got any ideas????

Yeah man I had that prob too, behind your glovebox, there is a little prong with a cable attachted to it held in place by a red retainer, try looking at it while moving the cold-hot lever- it should move to the left and right, if it doesnt, the cable is broken or loose somewhere. That cable goes straight to the cold-hot lever---
also, check all your under dash vacuum, crank er up and listen very closely for air, you can tap the gas a little to discrete the sound cause vacuum slows with accelleration. oh yeah, that lever controlls a door between the evaporator(a/c) and the heater core

I recently had to replace the heater core on my truck and learned a little in the process. If both hoses to the heater are warm then more than likely your core is ok. To control the heat in the cab you turn the temp. dial on your HVAC istrument panel. This dial controls a baffel that allows air into the heater core area. The warmer the dial is turned the more the baffle is opened. The opening of this baffel is controled by a servo on top of the HVAC plentum. This survo is connected electricly to the TEMP. dial. My guess is you are having a problem either with the temp dial or the servo it connects to. Try the temp. dial first. It is much easier to get to. To get to the servo you have to take the dash out. Good luck.

Thanks for the help, i will try some of these ideas today so see if i can get it to work. If the linkage between the knob and baffel are broken i will just prop the baffel open. Ill let u know what happens, thanks
