I have a 93 s-10 w/4.3 (don't know if that relevant). My issue is that when I bought the truck, it had the stereo hardwired to the battery with and inline fuse and was working okay but I kept leaving it on and killing the battery. So a buddy of mine and myself attempted to hook it up correctly. When we had it hooked up it didn't work. So we hooked it back up with the inline fuse and it turned on but did not stay on. It blew the fuse. Upon disconnecting the battery and replacing it, it was blown again when I reconnected the battery. this happened 3x and I don't know why. Is there anyone who can help me figure this out? Thanks in advance.

Make sure you only have the power wire going to the battery and the ground wire to metal. Sounds like something is a complete short causing your problem. Retrace all the wires you have messed with.

Just wanted to update you on what is going on. I had another buddy look at it (due to my obvious lack of electrical knowledge) and he found that the battery constant wire was hooked to the wrong contacting metal and causing the short. Simply replaced the single wire and wired it up correctly and it was fixed. Thanks so much for your help with this.
