obviously the number 1 thing to do is get a membership at www.s10v8.com
next is research, like you are doing now
plan, plan, plan
estimate cost and time
get all your ducks in a row before you start, meaning have all the parts you need, all the tools you need and all the help you will need

Is your s-10 a 4 or 6 cylinder?
..4 cyl, you'll want the springs(if they'll fit the s-10), the wiring harness and ECM.
You'll need mounts from some place like http://parts.s10v8.com.
Radiator from a corvette ('83-'89), 4.3 radiator will work if you don't plan on having A/C.
Either exhaust manifolds or s-10 conversion "shorty" headers.
You'll need a transmission that will bolt to either a 4.3, 5.0, 5.7, ect, ect...
You may need to have a driveshaft either made or shortened to fit.
there are many things that you need to reserch and check into so you get the right componants for your project.
Do yourself a favor and get the conversion manual from http://parts.s10v8.com.
Read it. it will give you ideas of what you may need or want to do.
Good luck.
