I would say some were in the low 3's (ex: 3.08s). This should give you very good street manors and performance. And maybe they will even give you double digits for gas mileage, but after all you are putting a 350 in so I doubt you care about gas mileage.

For a mild street V8 engine, peak torque rpm at 80mph usually is a good final drive ratio. This would give a top speed of about 125 mph at a reasonable 5500rpm. Things that affect rpm at 80mph are high gear ratio, rear axle ratio, and tire diameter. This works out to a 3.39 final drive with the ZQ8 26.1-inch tire diameter. 3.42 is close enough. Remember, this 3.42 counts axle and high gear ratio. A 3.42 axle will be fine with a TH350 or 4-speed. If you are using an overdrive transmission, you'll need slightly lower gears. A .76:1 overdrive (used on some S10s) will need 4.56 gears or something thereabout.
