Hi my name is Ryan. I have been to this site for a while but just signed up. I have had a question for a while now. I finally found some performance headers for my truck that is legal in Ca. However it says its for CPI engines only. I think my truck is but im not 100% sure. Is there anyway that i can find out for sure before i spend the money?
-Thanks for the help

Hey bro , sorry if its a 98 it would be cmfi still with the spider pack like the cpi but the cpi manifold is part of the upper plenium.which come off the front of the engine. while your throttle body should be mounted on to the upper plenuim. on top opening up towards the hood.
Just take a pic and put it up.
You can look at a pic of my cpi in my 94 s10 on this site

The 98 and newer are all CPI and they all have the same intake manifold.
The style of the intake manifold has nothing to do with the exhaust manifold (or header). Check Edelbrock since I am sure that they have a set of headers that will fit your truck.

No, CPI ran from 92-95, 96 to current is CSFI (Similar but fires sequentially. They ended up changing the injector style again in 99 to fix sticky poppets, you can get the retrofit kit at the dealer)
The CPI intake manifolds are completely different than the 96+ CSFI Intake manifolds. The 96 to current manifolds are all the same..
The heads use different bolt patterns from 96 to current vs 95 and below.

The 96+ have CSFI that have major differences between the 95 and earlier years on the intake only. The exhaust ports are the same for all year engines (but the routing may be different for the truck).
