Knock that b!+ch over the head with your LS-1!! Anyone that simple, talking stupid trash is BEGGING to be punished. The LS-1 is the motor Ford wishes they had built! But make sure you tell him how PRETTY his Mustang is, for his self-esteem may suffer.

Man, My wife's GTP Grand Prix has the acceleration and speed the new mustang GT's have. may not have the top end but still. I know a LS1 engine will smoke a little 4.6

whats the LS1 motor.
It is GM's 5.7L V8 that they put in Camaros, Firebirds and a bunch of their other performance vehicles.
And now for the original question, I think as long as you can hook up your LS1 s10 tires you should have no problem beating the GT.

jimmy a lot is about $$, as jrock said 7 g's for a motor, and harness, this is a used motor too most likely....also with that much power, have fun getting those tires to stick

If you get nice fat tires , a posi and some slida link or Caltrac bars you should win every time. You should add the LS6 stuff to it while you are at it and he's in the dust every time. THe 05 mustang is a lot faster than before but you can still take him. Mustangs bring some skimpy tires which do not help performance either.
I had a 88 s-10 with a nicely built mild V8 putting down 270hp and 350 ft lb tq matched to a th700r4 and I left plenty of Gt's in the dust many times.

Wow, I think the ls1 should beat the gt, but u better have a good gearset beacause I have seen some 5sp manuals with the at gears, they turn around 12.9-13.0 in the quarter with no other mods. The ls6 intake would definately help ur cause. If you wish to have a cheaper way out, you can go with an lt1 converted to an lt4 for much cheaper and be around the same speed as a ls1 i think. And the mustangs actually got 3 7.0L engines in the 60's. The two everyone knows about were the 428 and 429. I have seen a 67 shelby with a 427 side oiler before that was alledgedly stock. I know that engine in 1964 in the thunderbolt could run 11's. Scary a ford can do that!!!!
Andrew
P.S. I am a recovering ford addict so bear with me, ive owned a 65stang and a 89 taurus sho then the s10's so sorry. Im 2 vs. 2 dang!!! i need another chevrolet!!

Hey, i almost forgot...... The 428 was "conservativly rated at 335hp" kinda like the 67 corvette's fabled L88 option
Sorry, didnt feel like editing my post

Don't foget the 67-69 Chevy 302 that produced "only" 290hp.
The 428s made good horsepower, but only until a shift was missed and they chucked rods out the sides of the blocks. Maybe there's a reason nobody runs 428s any more--there aren't many left.
P. S., I have 3 428 Cougars in my collection. They are 1970 models. One is a hardtop XR7 with a C6 and every luxury option. What a great touring car (if you could still get gas with enough octane). The second is a hardtop 4-speed with only performance options. It is wicked on period tires. The third is a very rare XR7 Eliminator ragtop with close ratio 4-speed and every option available. It's extra weight tones the wickedness a bit. I've been told that there were only 3 produced with ragtops, 4-speeds, and the Drag Pack.

True, i almost forgot about that crazy engine, and yes the 428 did have that problem, as has almost every long stroke, small bore engine i have ever seen.
Thanks
Andrew
