I have a set of heads, cast nubmer 3796896, from a 283 engine. Is there anything special bout these heads? I am thinking of swapping ina set of 305 heads but if these are "better" than I would like to use them...

Any comments? Advice?
Cheers

It all depends on what you want to do. What sort of revs do you want to pull. What cam are you running? Headers? pistons? Theres lots or performance small block heads around.

Worst part about those heads are the lack of accessory holes .You would have to go old school with short water pump for power steering and the boomerang alt bracket

Those heads are worthless on a street engine. They came off a 64-67 283 2-bbl. Small ports, small valves, thin port walls, and soft valve seats that will be recessed in 5000 miles on unleaded pump gas. Their only value is as collectibles, and they aren't worth much.
