im considering a 5.3 liter or 6.0 which ever is cheaper or lighter
from lkq , parts america , (online junk yard )
would i have to splice a lot of wireing harness's ?
if so does any body know where to get books or information on wireing harness modifications or books on ecms or vccu's ,
things like guages an ses lights are important 2 ,
if i do this swap is it gonna affect my airbags ? since i got tink with the ecu ,
i got factory pull out clip thing so the engine wont try to start , does that go thru the ecm ?

From the research I've done on my LS1 swap the best thing to do for the wireing harness is to get both manuals. The one from your truck and where ever the engine is comming from and match up every thing on paper first befor you statrt cutting but just about every wire will have to be spliced. Or if there is some on in town that can get you a painless wiring harness and have them do all the research that way all you have to do is mount the harness from them in to your truck

i personally would love to do my own wiring but it is too confusing for me and whatever, so i am going to get one from diablo performance or painless or somewhere like that(search google with lots of phrases and do some searching around) Diablo so far i like the best, it looks nice and neat and they will custom make it to whatever u are putting in ur truck, they go to minut details about ur truck such as what options it has that the comp will affect so that everything is accurate and correct(such as if u have factory tach, when u get the wiring harness installed ur tach will be showing V-8's correct RPM's and correct speed on the speedometer) very detailed but the price also shows their quality of work!!!! Kinda expensive but quality b4 economy, if its done right the first time you will be glad when you are driving and enjoying ur truck and the other guy is redoing his shit!!

So true. You can have things done right, or have things done cheap, but not both. You can sometimes save a little money and still have things done right by doing them yourself, but most people don't know how to do things right in the first place.
