Heya, my abs does not work anymore and my abs light is on. The fuse is fine and the truck brakes the same, just when abs is needed the wheels lock up. What can cause that, and is there anyway to clear the code till I can afford to get it fixed? The dealership is expensive and I can live without abs for a few months as my money is really tight atm.

might be a sensor ... get the code read for free at azone or something .. it might give you a better clue.

I got a trouble code using the jumper trick in the hanes manual, good think mine is a 93 and I can do that. It told me its the brake switch circuit and coincidently I just changed my brake switch about two weeks ago because the last one was wearing out.

There was a TSB on some Chevy's with rust at the wheel sensors causing a problem. Might be worth checking out. :)

Tried a hard brake from 80 km/h and I left a nice rubber patch and the abs did not kick in at all. Its the wiring from the brake switch to the ehcu (brake pressure controlling unit in the engine bay), whats involved in fixing this? Electrical is not my forte and my brake lights work fine so its just this connection must be bad due to age of my truck. If the sensors do have rust they can be dealt with if the problem persists after fixing the wiring issue.

updat: re-set started again and got a new code...Left front wheel circuit. Is it possible that if one sensors wiring is ****ed it will throw the whole system off?

I decided to have the dealership scan it and fix it today, brakes are not something to toy with...especially if there is more than one code. Hopefully its not a lot I hate dealerships lol.

a few months ago my ABS light came on in my 95 S10... the ABS kicked in for no reason as I was stopping at a stop sign. Since then my ABS doesn't work at all. The left rear wheel locks up, and when the brakes get warm the fronts 'shudder' at low speeds (less than 15mph)...they make like a banging noise, and will lock for a split second and release, lock, release, etc etc etc..almost like the pump isnt working properly.

Im going to go to my old high school and have the code read by the auto teacher, and depending on what the codes are will determine what I do about this.

EEEk, mine just came on then stopped. Turned out the Front left wheel sensor and curcuit was messing up. They fixed up the wiring problem and sensor and its all good.
