my 98 S-10 4.3L lost oil pressure a month ago, while driving down the hiighway. Oil everywhere, golden brown streaks down the sides on white paint, back of the tailgate, etc... :(

Dad guessed it was a blown motor( 252000miles on it)
I finally got in the school shop today, and got the upper radator shroud and the air intake tube and box off. I couldn't see where the leak was, so I had two classmates look in the motor while i turn the engine on. When I started the motor, I saw my classmates turn tail and run. I shut the motor off and one yells, "the motherf***er took a shot at us". The engine ran for less than 5 seconds and put 1-2 quarts of oil on the ground and classmate. & :p One of the oil cooler hoses must have a have a big hole in it.
A $40 part to $1200 long block assembly

Thank god that dad was wrong:)

It is great to hear that for once it was not the worst case scenario.
