I have a comp cams camshaft and wanted to say it works wonders for port/polish on the heads, but i never purchased headers(prolly should though) But just those two alone made a world of difference with my 5sp. I beleive this is the jegs parts number for my cam( not positive but i think it is) 249-853-12
hope this helps, andrew

Why did you buy ported and polished heads??You know most attempts to do Vortec heads end up flowing worse than they did before and there are not alot of good people out there that know how to do Vortecs right.
Comp cams mostly require extra machine work for those cams to fit because there stukc into the old school higher lift deal which a Vortec doesnt want nor need. Crane has and off the shelf cam that has the duration needed and lower lift so springs dont bind etc!

Not sure on the specs for the cam but just mph wise in the 1/4, I picked up 7mph so i was just winding out third gear at around 94 up from 85 With the cam and heads. I had to rebuild my engine so i took the heads to be redone, theyport/ polished them but said it was worthless to pay for larger valves. My comp cam is the hydrolic roller and fit perfectly. The only waste of money i think were the roller rockers. I didnt notice a thing. Anyways, I will try to find the specs for you. I am going home this weekend so i will look on the box and then repost lift, duration, and adv. If the motor doesnt need rebuilt, i dont recommend messing with it. I lost a 9500mile 4.3 because the guy before me messed with it and didnt put an intake gasket on correctly. I still think that was the best thing that happened to me with the truck. I think i have a comp, but it may be crane, i know it was with a "c" and made my truck faster.
P.S. I went to a machine shop that had redone the heads on my friends 94 lt1 so i didnt worry much.
Hope this all helps,
Andrew

Hey, the cam is a comp cams .500 lift for both exhaust and intake
I only remember paying $250 for mine but this one looks like it has the same specs, but requires an adjustable valvetrain so i am guessing that means roller rockers. Hope this helps

Hay crane makes a cam for that engine too. I don't know what they have specificly for Vortec heads but mine for the pre-vortec heads is 107 lift 194 duration on intake and 117 at 204 on exaust.
You have to be careful what cam you choose if you are going to run efi of the stock computer. At least that is what I have been told.
You do NOT need roller rockers to have an adjustable valvetrain.
The stock rocker setup is adjustable.

I beleive they do, it is on the very back of the engine(pain in the ass to reconnect) but if you ever have the engine out it should be white and look like a syrup bottle top. Hope that helps
Andrew
P.S. I havn't had it set the sensor off yet, even though I have noticed a lower idle speed and a bit more shaking than I did before. and I havn't had any problems using a hypertech yet.
