flush the radiator and the block, pump combo. you dont want to mix coolent with another. could end up very corrosive. i only use prestone dex cool orange for GMs.

Most of the new coolants that are out such as Prestone and most of your auto parts brands are a new formula that will mix with green or orange, so use that and you will not have any issues with leftover coolant....

Always use the Manufactured Suggested coolant, for chevy's it is usally Dex-Cool
50dex/50water mixture. Try buying distilled water. Tap water has minerals that could either block or corode the cooling system. NEVER MIX COOLANTS!. No matter what the product says never mix. Use red on red, or green on green never mix the two. And I prefer Dex-Cool, it has a longer service interval(longer life usally 100k miles) that ethylene glycol based coolants(green crap). plus is doesn't contain silicates or phosphates, its good stuff!

I heard a lot of negative things about the pink/orange antifreeze destroying gaskets and seals on this site. I switched to the green coolant this past June after flushing and new thermostat. :)

in chemistry last year we found out that distilled water will actually eat natural aluminum, Ill assume the alloy the heads are made out of can take it...I just use the prestone stuff that can mix with any color, I think it mine always had green anyway.

I didnt say mix the coolants, with the manufacters new formula it will mix with green or orange. So if there is some old stuff in the syatem it will cause no harm.
