haymaker1195 s10 , three broken wheel studs on the same wheel. ( don't ask, lol). i wanted to take the wheel off, in the process i broke three studs, i only left the other two on there so i could drive it two minutes to a shop.
what's involved in chaging studs on the rear wheels? anyone know how?? is it easy /hard? any info on changing rear studs appreciated.
there is a big plate on the backside of the drum / hub soi can't even see the studs. here's a pic to show you what i'm talking about:

the studs are pressed into the axle. there is a tool used to press them in and out. i suppose you can pound them out as well. im not sure if you can remove them without taking out the axle on the s-10 though. please let us know how you broke them, we could use a good laugh
After you remove the drums, knock them out with a hammer and punch. You can pobably insert them from the back side if there's enough room which I'm pretty sure there is. My friend had some of his replaced and they didn't remove the axles. To get them all the way in, use some thick washers to cover the unthreaded portion and use large nuts that will sit flat on the washers, or the stock lugnuts if you have to, to draw them all the way out. They will get hot, so keep them cool with penetraring lube while you're tightening.

hammer and punch may work, but you might be there for a while...and a few bached knuckles. if you have access to pneumatic tools, like if you have a air compressor, use an air hammer with a straight chissel, that's be your best bet. it should drive them right out, and putting them in, if there is enough room to slide the new one in behind the axle, just suck them in with an impact, use a spacer between the axle and the lug.
