View Full Version : Went racing and testing yesterday.
Yesterday, the family decided to go drag racing. It was my dad, brother, uncle, cousin and myself. My dad, cousin and I both lost in the 3rd round. My truck, for some reason, was running very inconsistently, plus I bumped into the staging lights a little too deep and didn't compensate enough (.027 red light), but that's ok I had fun.
The highlight was the testing of my brother's newly built 383 stroker in his '72 Nova. His first pass ever was a 11.34 at 118 mph. We were kind of surprised. His car actually has more in it since he only has a 650 cfm carb on it. Unfortunately, we had to slow his car down since he doesn't have a cage and 11.50 is the limit.
Over all we had a great time, just wish I had my S/C done.

nice what time did you run?
15.95, 15.96, 16.01, 15.88, 16.14 in that order. That's the inconsistency I was talking about. My truck has never been that inconsistent.

Damn! that Nova was quick for it's first pass. Plans for a cage in the Nova! How close are you to getting the S/C done?

Cage is planned for this winter, so it will be running consistent high 10's-low 11's next season. The sick thing is the motor is built with a complete forged Eagle rotating assembly for a possible nitrous addition. It should easily hold a 300HP shot of the giggle gas. My brother wants to run in the DOT drag class.
I'm still trying to make time to finish my pulley system. It sucks having to tear the whole intake tubing out everytime I work on it (truck is still my DD), so it takes a lot of time just to work on it. I'm hoping this fall. Once the pulleys are done, the intercooler plumbing shouldn't take as much time (will not have to tare the intake completely apart). I will keep the thread updated as it progresses.

With nos that nova will be sick!
I think we need to start a Help Rob out fund. Maybe get up enough money to buy you a daily beater to help the S/C project move alot quicker! :D
It's been along time and I can't wait for you to reach you goal!

Yes it will. The scary part is that it is completely street able.
Thanks. Please send all donations to the "Poor White Boy Foundation".

was the tunercar tune worth it?
was looking into it myself.
Nice times BTW, even if its a little inconsistant, seem pretty good for a blazer/jimmy.
Wish mine could break 15s in the 1/4

It will be when I finish my supercharger and need it for tuning. If you have a slightly modded engine, it may not be, but if you plan on heavy mods, then yes. The is a learning curve, but that's not a big deal.
Thanks. It's a lot of truck, which I found out last weekend.
On a side note, I found out that my fuel pump is going up (most likely the cause for my poor 1/4 ET's this past weekend and inconsistency). I'm ordering one tonight as well as picking up new plugs (their done as well) tomorrow.
