If you drive like a normal human you should not have any problems unless your air filter is inches from the floor.
I had a problem with my intake running through deep puddles. 3 cylinders got filled with water and my engine shut down. I had to pull it out of the puddle, remove the sparkplugs, crank the engine to remove the water, spray WD40 into the spark plug holes to help remove humidity, and change the oil to get rid of the water. I later replaced the plugs and it started right up but was misfiring like crazy until it burned all the water left in the intake manifold and stuff.
Lets face it this happened because I was driving like a 16yr old kid. I entered a puddle that was at least 12" deep and over 20 ft long on a corner at about 40mph. Halfway I was losing speed so I floored it and it stalled. THis is stupid. Now, this had never happened with my stock intake even when running though larger and deeper puddles at the same speed if not faster.

my neighbor works at a ford dealer and he said a guy came in with an f150 with a k&n that had sand in the engine.

I have a home made snorkel with a cone filter and a funneled airhole
next to the rad. It runs slow in the rain, other than that no problem.
Before I got my K&N FIPK intake I was concerned about it sucking in water. Now that I have the intake I never have any problems at all. As said above, "drive like a normal human being" and you will have no problems.

ive never had a problem w/ mine. but a buddy of mine w/ a GTi has a AEM intake and the stupid thing sits maybe 5" from the ground and sucked up some water, it didnt sound good. car bogged, choked, and gagged like crazy.

If your intake is 5" from the ground you can expect to suck in some water while driving through any puddle deeper than 5". Duh..
Now that is not the case for most intakes on s-10's. If you are sooo concerned about it drinking some water then just add a AEM bypass valve and thats it. your worries are gone.
