not ur fault he cant drive , and you cant be held responsible for his age or his actions . he better be glad u were there though . otherwise he might have sat for a while before being found .

Technically your both at fault, anyone that participates in street racing no mater what the circumstances are. Since hes an underage driver they will look at him first so you might get lucky with it. Unless a witness or he decides to let the fact that you were racing out, then theres no telling what might happen.
im not in trouble with the law i already told them we were racing but the fact that i fell behind to give him room and moved behind him to take the high side may have taken his attention off the road and on to me. add one inexperianced driver and high speeds equals catastrophe but did i distract him is my problem i have a habit when street raceing i give the other driver all the room in the world going out of the straight away even if it costs me the race.

Thats the main reason they say keep your eyes on the road. XTC is right you not responsible for his driving ability and age.
This reminds of my friend who raced a civic in his prelude, i told them before the race i had a bad feeling, and the dumbasses decide to race in a parking lot instead of on the street. They had room its a huge parking lot easily 3/8 mile well he thought the other guy was going to brake and turn into a row of parking spots well he just slammed on the brakes and kept going straight. Well my friend tryed to lock the rear wheels and slide the car into another row of spots, but he didnt have enough clearance from the guy he was racing well my friend ends up hitting a light pole, and landing on a sidewalk. totaled the car now i have the engine. I turned around for 2 seconds and i look back and i see the rear of his car about 8' off the ground, front driver side hit the pole and his back tires hit the curb so it launched him upwards and onto the sidewalk.
Now how you got out of trouble with the cop, i would consider my self lucky as hell.

Yes I'm only 18 but here's my $0.02. I never race anyone younger than me. Not on the street at least. There are too many kids out there who think they're hot stuff because they have a few ponies under the hood. If they look younger than me at the light I let them pass and live.
If it helps, know you're not the only one in this situation before. On the way home from hockey one night a teamate and I come to a stop sign with only miles of 55mph highway infront of us late at night. Mind you this was maybe a week after I fully installed my venom nitrous system and hadn't raced anyone with it yet. Long story short, Minnesota, icey roads, black ice...luckily the gaurd rail prevented him from going over the side of the bank and only crossing into the median while spinning.
To put it lightly we lost our back up goalie for two weeks. How is it that one lane has black ice, and mine doesn't? Divine intervention?
Consider yourself lucky, like blazinlow89 said, that you didn't get into any trouble and all the focus was on the 15yr old. It was not your fault. It was NOT your fault. As my dad put it when my goalie spun out, "it's just the way the mop flops."

Sounds like ya got lucky this time!
actually ya both were in a way no one was seriously injured
as for the GTP well that can be replaced!
learn from the lesson!
Street Racing is very dangerous as it is even on a straight road,

Really? I have yet to hear of someone around here ACTUALLY losing their ride. I've heard the police threatening racers with this tatic, but I've yet to see it used. Hopefully they don't use it on me ;) .

Ive heard stories of it in california but the only thing that has happened closer to me was when a bunch of people used an access road to street race the cops impounded something like 15 cars and over 100 citations for trespassing and other bs.

Legally they cant do any modifications to your car unless authorized. Other wise that would be alot of law suits. Then again ive heard some pretty bizzare shit happen to street racers cars after theyve been impounded.

Lesson #1...Don't street race.
My truck isn't set up for straight shot acceleration. Extreme cornering and top speed are what I like. The stop light to stop light skirmishes are great for the nitrous though!
That's what the tracks are for
No long mile tracks in minnesota. Only two quarter mile tracks for funny cars and dragsters. Not open to the public. But we have a ton of country roads perfect for what I do.

I just checked that because I found that hard to beleive. There are 3 tracks in Minn. that hold street legal drags. Two quarter miles and an eighth mile track. Just so you know.

Brainerd's BIR track has street legal one a month during the summer. That's a 3 hour drive from my home. Moorhead is 4 hours away and I didn't know Grove creek existed but that is exactly 2 hours away according to mapquest.
Plus those are 1/4 and 1/8 mile strips. My truck isn't designed for those. Thanks for looking them up though!

Hey there easy
I was impressed that you would & did slow down to give the other driver room and palyed it safe
i too always try to give the other guy all the room he needs ( to me this is just common sense) even tho people dont see much common sense in street racing
just wanted to add my 2 cents here

the car crushing was done in newmarket i think. and it was done more as a scare tatic than anything else.

http://www.nhra.com/streetlegal/division_5.html Now theres sobebody that knows something around here. street racing is just flat out dumn. take it to the track and show the world what you got, it will be down on paper, its way safer and all legal, there is no excuse, unless you like to be a dumn ass and street race!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus street racing shows no skill. Go to a track and do some bracket racing. Now that takes skill.

But it doesn't matter how fast you are in bracket racing, just how good of a driver you are.

Or the block of wood you have behind your gas pedal......there is a purple xcab dime that usually wins the brackets at muncie.......he runs mid 17's with his 4.3L, but has the piece of wood......the only skill about it is reaction time. I finally got the sable out of the first round this last time(broke out the last 4 tries) Basically trapped at 70mph, hard on the brakes and barely missed breaking out, only to break out with my fastest run ever the next round....lol

...the only skill about it is reaction time...
"Playing" the finish line also takes a lot of skill, but it also depends on how good the racers are in your class and at your track. It takes more than just a good reaction time. There are two ends of the race track.

It might not have went to the cops, but I'd say that the guy in the GTP lost his father's car. Sure, he could tow it home; but it just wouldn't be the same.

I know....its just use a block and nail the tree.......just know the fastest it will go, and you want to watch your mirror a bit....lol. I was hard on the brakes when I worked a 16.02 dial everytime at the end of the 1/4, lol. I ran it straight up and broke out by 2 tenths on purpose....lol
