Its possible it had a 4.3, my friends 87 has a 4.3. Have yet to see how a firebird will go with a 4.3 (car is still a work in progress) but it does have one. If you don't believe me I can show pics :P.

the 3.4's are crap motors. Im not sure about the 3.8's though, ibet those could be decent if the right mods were done especially with a 5 speed. probably faster than a 4.3.

on some fiero website, some guy swaped a early 90s 4.3 CPI engine into his fiero & range a mid 14 sec pass on a stock engine.

They he had started the sy/ty motor swap, last i saw.

They are quick. I've come across a few 3.8L powered F-Bodys that can give a 4.3L a run for it's money if not beat them.

Dont under estimate the 3.8l. At the shop were working on some brackets for a P1SC procharger setup on a gen 2 3.8. Shes a female racer with the setup she has now with a P600B procharger she ran a mid 11 on drag radials. I would love to put one in my truck.

My 91 regal had a 3800 (3.8l) and i got bored and made an intake and put a flowmaster on it well i could keep up with a rumble and my friends 97 civic with a few mods. Not a bad engine.
