My fuel gauge is being ghetto. it keeps jumping all over the place. like when im at 1/4 tank, it'll say somewere between 1/2-full. Id talked to my uncle about it. he said it could a bad groud wire or the gague going bad. what do you guys think?

sending unit of ground..typically a bad ground will make it bounce, but i had a bad sending unit do the same thing..

I would say the ground on the sending unit. But not positive.

P.S. Have you put an aftermarket face on you gauges? Or the motor that turns the dial might be going bad, i had a spedo motor go bad on me and it tended to bounce also

My wife's van went the other way on me! The fuel gauge still said 1/4 tank and I was already walking beside the road with a sick child. :(

I have been having the same problem. I have a '99 Sonoma 2.2L and my gas gauge will bounce from empty to full for about the first 50 miles on a full tank of gas and after that it will not read below a half tank.

Mine went screwy after it hit 1/2 tank. I took it back to the dealer
and had a new sending unit installed and callibrated.
It still goes goofy. I think it is a quirk of the S-10 series.
And by the way, does anyone know how much the tank holds ?
The dealer said between 17gal and 19 gal.
I figured the dealer would know, and he was no help.

mine is 20 gal, but lucky if I can get 18 in there ...
also I recently replaced my sending unit when I had the bed off ...
