This is more of a poll question but i have a 1987 sonoma 2.8 auto ext cab. I would like to know what would be a better idea air ride so i am able to lay frame. Or throw a 350 in it. I was going to do both but I was told that the truck would sway when i gas it!

Remember you should be able to add a poll to the thread when you post it. I added the poll for you, this time.

Why not do a slight drop and drop a 350 in it? That's what I'm planning to do in the future.

i agree with mirage..but stiff springs though

Yeah either stiffer springs or ones not as low as you want it to sit. Such as the weight of the engine will lower it further, ex. order 1.5" springs and after you drop the 350 in there, with the extra weight, it may actually drop it to 2.5" Just an example though. I may off on the figures a little?

If I were you I would build the 2.8 into a 200+ HP mini monster because that’s what I am doing with my 2.8. But what is good for you depends on what you want in a truck. Do you want a truck that looks good sitting there or do you want a truck that looks good when it is leaving you in its dust?

If you like power I wounld do the v8 swap( I'm doing it rite now) :)
Then do the airirde (hopefully I'll be doing it this winter) :)
It all comes down to what you are into

How much u would drive it? With gas nearing $3/gal.

what u want looks or power

gas will kill you, but layin' frame won't cost you after the initial install. Air is free

I got lucky and scored an LS-1, which turned out to be a few lbs lighter than my 4.3. The LS-1 is a more efficient engine so my mileage shouldn't suffer. But, not everyone gets to score one..............

Sure most would go for the V8. I would too but realistically i cant afford it nor do i have the knowledge and time to do the install but bagging it is whithin my range.

well if you have a lot of money to waste, then sure, drop a v8 in it. but with gas over 3 $/gal., i'll stick to draggin' my 4banger.

First off, if you where smart you would not do either to it if it is your only means of transportation.
Secondly, the v8 is more practical even with the high gas prices, if your truck is in need of an engine anyways, but if your truck drives just fine then leave it be.
Third, why would you want to destroy your truck by dropping the thing onto the ground?

In addition, to say laying frame will not cost you after the initial install is a load of crap. The value of the truck drops drastically, you will more then likely end up breaking parts on your truck, will probably get numerous traffic tickets, and could possibly wreck and kill a bus full of nuns or something, but the same could happen with the v8 too.
So I guess I am saying, do not do either, and just drive your truck.

So I saw this poll at the bottom of the homepage and wanted to chime in regardless of being 1 year and 4 months old.

I would say to put a V8 in it. Bagging is too easy to do, honestly. Not to mention your truck doesn't run any better, and in any matter of miles, your engine will kaputt. SO, if you have the chance to do a NEW engine swap, I would take that over any mod, any day.

If I could get a v8 crate motor swapped in like a factory install, I would cry.

I have to disagree with you oweezy9 on you bagging is easier that a motor swap. I believe they are equaly challenging. Provided the air ride isn't 100% bolt on. Being I have done the v8 swap and in the process of the bagging and bodydropping that is my opinion. I went with the v8 swap first cause that's what I wanted.

Just have the kitten spade or neutered Rink. We don't need to control the pet pollution that badly. Do it for Bob Barker.
