they have the 4l80E which is an electronic version of the 700r4. I have a B&M shift improver on my 2.2. It is an electronic controller that taps directly into the computer wiring harness. It has 2 settings on it 1 and 2. You can't run it on 2 with the 4 banger because it causes the transmission pump to put too much strain on the engine, causing it to flood and not want to start. On the number 1 setting it has mildly firmer shifts. There is a shift kit you can put directly into the transmission that B&M also makes.

The 700r4 and 4l80E are common tranny's used in pretty much all the 1/2 ton and 2/4 ton trucks. you definatley don't wanna use a 200r4...haha that is a piece of *&%^%$ tranny. The company we purchase our trannys' from only have like a 50 dollar core charge for that tranny...

from the research that i've done yes. as long as you've got the 4l60e tranny both the electronic shift improver and the shift kit will work regardless of engine size. just take note what i posted earlier if you've got the 2.2 and use the electronic shift improver. the 2.2 can't engine can't handle the pressure from the pump when on the number 2 setting.
