All right i ahve a question about a recall that was going around the old site about a recall for the cat and down pipe on the 2.2 or if you had already replaced it the would reimburse you. when i went to the chevy dealer the guy behind the counter told me that there is no such recall, now i am hearing that they extended the recall to 125,000 but i already replaced my cat and i got a new header and down pipe can anyone help me with this?

Recalls are for safety issues and the cat and or flex section doesnt fall into that catagory. No recalls were made for such but a TSB may have been issued and I can't find at this point in time. I do remember at one point the flex connector being and issue!

Chevy has a failure with the catalyctic convertor in the exhaust system. ... This is not a recall but,a up to 120000 mile extended warranty.

That is all I could find that was just at Edmunds in a discussion but its not backed on the TSB's and or recall lists GM or anybody else lists for the S10's. Merely and observation and it was due to fuel types being used that are additve laiden like MTBE fuels.

My 2000 was real sluggish and started to over heat. I took it to the chevey dealer in Deland, Florida. They told me about the extended waranty 125,000 or seven years from the date of manufacture. They ordered a cc called me when it came in and replaced it for free. Now that's service, and I didn't buy my truck from them. I had to put it on the computer to find the problem. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

i had heard a rattling engine noise for 2 days under my 2.2 everytime the engine revved up, finally got around to lookin under the truck and found that the flex part of the pipe that comes off of the exhaust manifold was broken. At the time i didnt know that those were under warranty or whatever so i was like, damn!, when i found out that the part costs like 200 bucks at the chevy dealer. At the time i didnt have 200 bucks so i had to ride around like that for like two more weeks, it kept gettin louder and louder everyday, one day i was leaving my gf'shouse and it sounded horribly loud, i pulled over and looked under the truck and seen that the pipe had completely broken off and was danglin under the truck, i had to ride 20 miles all the way home like that. it was so loud and embarrasing, i ended up buying the part with a credit card at the dealership and put it in myself. I wish I knew that it was under warranty. i wish the bunghole parts guys had told me that that part was under warranty. they just wanted my money i guess. that was like 3 years ago...

Erik,
It wasn't exactly a "recall". I'm not sure what they called it but it did hafta do with the cat on 98's. The reason it wasn't a recall is because they weren't just gonna replace it for no charge. They only replaced it if you were having problems with it.

If you had it replaced with under 120k miles than they would reimburse you. All you hafta fill out is some general info about your truck and when/where you got it replaced along with receipts for how much you paid. If you hadn't got it replaced yet but were starting to have trouble with it and you hadn't hit 120k yet, then they replaced it for free. My truck had 127k on it when I replaced my cat, so I couldn't get anything out of it.

Go figure, so i wasnt going nuts when my '00 4cyl lost the cat at 73k!!!!!
I never had any problems with the manifold though. BTW, the 2.2 5sp with 3.73's are fairly quick without a cat!!!!! (I AM NOT RECOMENDING THIS MOD!!!) :D

I own a 1998 Sonoma 2.2
I got a letter from GM it said that some of the down pipes develope scale inside
that flakes off clogging the catalaytic converter. If you experience loss of power to contact your local dealer to check for this problem.
