I have a 95 Sonoma w/ a 2.2 and a 5 speed......the oil pressure gauge moves alot like when you are on the gas it stays around 40 psi(warm) and when you slow down or push the clutch in it goes down to around 15-20 psi....is this normal???......it has 165k on it. I would also like to lower it.....maybe a 2-3 i don't want it to bottom out everywhere....damn New England roads....I was told to go with spindles and blocks...is this the right way to do it or should i just get coils?.....Thanks in advance.

ive got a 2000 2.2L 5spd and normal crusing my oil pressure is at around 65-75 depending on engine temp (75 when cold, 65 when warm). idling it's about 60 (cold) but i tends to drop down to 25-40 (warm). Just depends on engine temp and what speed you are going. If your engine is dropping oil pressure that much (15-20psi) then you might be losing compression somewhere or some of your seals might be breaking down
As far as lowering goes, im in New England as well (well, close enough anyway) and I went with a 2/1 drop. With the way new york states roads are (crappy) this seems to work fine and you won't have any trouble in the winter.

-My advice is my opinion

my 98 2.2 is the same way. runs high when cold....but then drops when the engine is warm...your good. spindels are a cleaner drop....but i only think u can get 2", so if you want lower....coils are next...

would use spindles and leaf springs for a smoother ride,I used 3" blocks only because they were cheaper and easier,if you have a standard cab shims aren't needed

sorry,I see you only want a 1"drop,anyways you probably will want to go lower .mine is a 3/3 drop,no problems with speed bumps or bad roads so far, just have to use caution when driving is all :)
