I WANNA SEE SOME PICS
i was thinking about cutting up my bench seat (60/40) and sticking my IDQ 12 in the middle in a custom ported fiberglass box with 2 ports blowing by the passenger seat.
HOW CRAZY AM I.

u only have about 7 inchs in between the seats. if i were you id go 2 10'' behind the seat in truck boxes. jl, pioneer, and kicker make some shallow subs that will fit and they sound great. and go with sealed boxes in reg cabs. it sounds so much better imo

the sad thing is an IDQ is also free air but i wouldnt know how to set it up to sound good
i just took a couple pics of some installs from the sept. edition of truckin'. i can email them if you want. i plan on doing a similar install myself, but i'm probably gonna swap to buckets instead of hackin the bench.

Two JL 10w3v2's hit nice and hard. I have an Xtant 600.1 on them in crappy individual sealed boxes. Sounds bueno.

ok.
1st of all, i would have to get a cover for the bed
2nd of all, it crossed my mine but if i was to cut a F&%$ING hole in my truck i better have some awesome speakers and awesome setup. at least 4 like yours.
3rd of all if i was to do it what is a recommended gasket for the blow through.
a friend and i where throwing ideas back and forth and i was wondering if fiberglass would be a good idea.

okay its cool and all until your truck becomes unsellable. fiberglass a console and where the seats end build it up high and put a 8w7 or a 10w7. thats more than enuff thumps.

I am going to get buckets myself, sometime. I have been thinking seriously on how I am going to get subs in my truck. I don't see any "standard" way to do so. My seat is alllll the way back, so nothing will fit. This evening I was thinking about building a console (when I get the buckets) and sticking 1 or 2 10" 's in it.
The stock bench seat is a little over 20" my drive shaft cover is 16" wide SO Put one 10" toward the back wall firing up then the second mounted in the front on it's side so it would be firing into the gearshift.
Q: What about the vibration on your arm? Wouldn't that get annoying after time?
A: Yes it would and no it wouldn't. If I mount them properly and put cushion between the box and speaker it shouldn't shake and rattle that badly.
Does this sound like a decent way? I certainly, at all costs, would like to refrain from cutting my truck. Lemme know what you all think ;)

fiberglass isnt very flexable... i used what you put on a shell to seal ur shell. then i just used some silicone around were is met the cab. we had the wettest winter in a super long time last year and i Never took on a drop of watter. also i would recommend useing 1 1/2 MDF that way u dont get road noise when u arent bumpin. also i trip people out when i roll up my windows and they can hear ANYTHING and i dont have any dynomat. then i show them how it isnt even in my truck and i get alot of this  WTF????? lol it is great. here is what i have in there and it is hitting 142.3 i have 4 orion 10" p1001. and one zapco 2200 watt amp. but it is turned almost all the way down so u could proabbly get a way with a 800 or 1000. but dont waste ur money on xplode performance teqneque. get something with a good name behiend it.

my truck is not unsellable i ahev people trying to buy it all the time. plus u keep the metal pieces and they can be put back in if ur good at welding and you put the carpet back on the back of your cab. basically think of it as a convertable lol. also this just popped in my head. bagging your truck lessens the value more if u wann put it that way????

I got a kicker L5 8" behind the drivers seat and it works great for how small it is you could probably fit 2 10" L5 behind your bench seat instead of cutting it up!!!

wow 02whtxblazer, nice setup :) i've got the same sub (12" rf), but only one. in a smaller box, with a 600W kennwood amp. if i upgrade, i'll do what you did.
my current setup leaves me a bit of room behind the passenger seat for other junk ;)

my suggestion is to run one sub in a ported box. that would save money by not having to buy a second sub and you could get an amp with half the power.

hey if youve got the money switch out the seat with some bucket seats. then the console in the middle will be worth it. hacking the bench up is bound to look like crap. you can put almost any seat out of any little honda or something
