Well, yes you can put a V8 and a T56 6speed tranny into a ZQ8.
Any LS1 weighs pretty much the same as a 4.3. A LT1 wont weigh much more than a 4.3 either, at least not enough for suspension to be an issue

I would say yes the stock suspension would be fine because I have seen other v8's in xtremes/zq8 trucks before.

Most definately. You'll get another inch of drop in the front if you use cast iron, but with aluminum everything and moving the battery aft you can even improve the CG over a 4.3. Use either Stealth mounts or get the mounts from Mike. These mounts allow the engine to sit further back than other mounts.

I just finished my 91 w/ LT1 and a 6 speed. That is one fun ride. The one big thing is the crossmember for the tranny. I built my own. Which is proablly what you would have to do with yours. One of the v8s10 websites has a crossmember that you can buy but I think it is pretty pricey. It can be done. The good thing is, is that there are a lot fewer 6 speeds than autos. People are truly impressed with mine when you tell them that it is a six speed.

I should add that if you use a lot of cast iron and/or don't work on weight distribution, you may find 4-cylinder ZQ8 springs a little soft. My favorite coil is a stock 6-cylinder auto extended cab spring with one coil cut off. This gives about the same ride height as a 4-cylinder ZQ8 all stock, with additional spring capacity to better support the weight of the V8.
