You could solder/tape/butt connect them together before they enter the door, or run new speaker wires up to the stock HU location and splice in there.

I'd really suggest that you run a full new wire through the door jamb though, much better option than adding a bunch of separate connections in the place of one solid wire.

Yeah i know it is a pain to run new wire but it will sound better than the stock wires.

i would change out the wire, even if you aren't adding an amp........

i noticed a huge improvement changing out the wires when switching to an aftermarket speaker without an amp.

not changing the wire when adding an amp will only limit the performance of the speakers.

Not to steal the thread but, what gauge are the stock wires? What is the recommened size to upgrade too if you plan to go to an aftermarket system?

its just so much easier to run new wire since you have to run wire for the amp anway . you will get better performance out of the newer wire especially when amping .

stock is 18-20 ga , 16ga is what i always use for mids and highs .

If you're not amping, wouldn't it be pointless to run new wires? because the wires coming out of the deck are still the same...only now they are jimmy'd to new wires at some point.

the stock wires have so many connectors that it hurts the performance of speakers. i noticed a huge difference after swapping out the wire. for some reason, the stock speakers don't mind the factory wiring, but when you go to an aftermarket speaker, you will notice it.

i was running a set of pioneer coax 6.5s with my clarion headunit (that i still have) and stock wiring. the wiring made it sound like my speakers were blown at medium to high volumes. seriously, my stock speakers running off of the stock headunit sounded better. i changed out the wire, and my problem went away. the speakers got twice as loud without distorting and sounded three times better.

i also recomend changing any stock wires on anything that you are upgrading. it may be a little time consuming but the sound quality will be worth it.

the bigger the wire the more power to a point. 16 to 14 gauge is optimal for non amps, 12 is the s*** for any size amp (excluding subs)

That sucks, I ran a whole new 18 gauge to my 6x9s and amped them. They still sound damn good though, but I will use 16 gauge when I amp my other speakers later on. Whats the wattage the different gauge wires can handle effectivley from 22 gauge to 12? I already tried google.
