The biggest I would go is 15".
You could get a 15 or even a 12 to hit the low notes just fine, it all depends on the box. My 1 15 will hit the low notes with ease, but my box is tuned to 30 hz.

So you just want plain annoying noise then, nothing to actually enhance the music...just have it all bass. Well if you want that I have not seen 18s in any store so just get four 15"s then you can have all the boom so loud you can't hear anything but the subs.

Here in Augusta there's a fella with a single kicker 18L7 hitting just north of 160. So a pair of kicker 18L5's should be able to do everything you're wanting.

mtx jackhammer - probably a terrible sub. similar to the audiobahn 32".
how many people actually have the room and the money to get one??? they knew this when designing it, so i doubt they put much time and effort in the design and build of the sub. i could come up with a system that would slaughter that sub with 1/4 of what it cost.

One 18" would not be too bad, but two...no. Dynomat in the back cab area and behind all the doors is highly suggested as even a GOOD 10" will rattle a vehicle. I have seen 10" hit damn hard, which makes me ask why an 18", as the 10" hits lower notes and will offer plenty of boom.

pyle is not very good.
volfenhag - flea market garbage.
JL, of course.
not sure about spl.
another reason i wouldn't recommend an 18 is because not many companies make them. if you must get an 18, get a RE XXX. it is a very good sub for the price. but then you would have to have an amp to push that monster.

i was thinking about getting a bazooka tube for my xcab as i still wanna have some use of the fold downs. what do u guys think, is a bazooka tube worth the money?
jrock262
08-28-2005, 05:56 AM
the tubes sound good but just arent that loud not ment 2 be either something you would listen 2 rock with but pretty easy installtion

The bigger the sub you get, the more distorted the bass is...generally speaking. A 12" sub can hit the really low notes, but the 15's are certainly considerably louder.

I compared the infinity basslinks to pretty much anything else in a car audio listening booth. ...Does not even compare. I would say they are pretty much a waste of money if you have any idea on how to set up a system.

not true. over-excursion (or uneven cone movement) causes distortion, not cone size. i have never heard my 15 distort.

i thot that was a 12 at first but moveing on , 2 ohm or 4 ohms ?
02whtxblazer
08-29-2005, 06:38 PM
it depends on what amp you have/plan on using and the number of subs you are going to use.
1 sub, and a 1 ohm stable amp - dual 2 ohm sub.
1 sub, and a 2 ohm stable amp - dual 4 ohm sub.
2 subs, and a 1 ohm stable amp - dual 4 ohm subs.
2 subs, and a 2 ohm stable amp - dual 2 ohm subs or single vc 4 ohm subs.
my amp is 2 ohm stable, so i got a dual 4 ohm sub. that way in the future, i could buy another sub, but i would have to get a 1 ohm stable amp.

Anyone seen this? It looks like it would solve the space issues and would probably sound good too. The only thing i dont really like is that is sticks out a little far. It also looks tough as hell to so you wouldnt have to worry about people stealing it. I wish they made it so i could put my 12s in it.

when you say dual you mean dual voice coil over right ,
think 2 10 infinety perfects will do it justice ?
02whtxblazer
08-30-2005, 12:48 PM
yes, when i said dual i meant dual voice coil. for more info on wiring, or if you need diagrams click on this link (www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard.asp).
those infinity perfects are nice subs. one of my buddies has a single 12 in an xtreme blazer like mine and it hits hard and sounds good. i think he hit a 137 on the termlab, which is pretty good. my 15 only hit 139.7.

there is a certain hertz that supposedly makes you lose control of your bowels. it is called the "brown note." from what i have read, it is just a myth.
Dimematters
08-30-2005, 03:39 PM
nope, the myth was busted. They went as low as 3or 5 hz at like 180(inaudible) decibels and nothing.

On Pimp my Ride they put one of those jack hammers in some guys car. They had to build reinforcment plates around it just support the weight of that damn thing!
jrock262
08-31-2005, 03:56 AM
ya that thing wieghs 300 lbs , how much you think they spent on amps, an caps, an alternators, an metal fab , i bet pimp my ride is bull
can we say sh*t ?
