1985 s10 w/ 327 cid carb. engine.
I swapped the origianl dash out for one out of a 91 s10. I got
the fuse block also with the newer dash. I also swapped out the
column shift steering column for one from a 1989 s10 that had
a 5 spd. in it. When I swapped the dashes all of the plugs matched
up except for 2 grounds and we changed the ends so that they
would plug back into their original place. He's my problem, I have
power to the dash but no power to the steering column. I used a
test light to see what was hot and what was not on the fuse block
and found that I only have power to the Horn, Taillights, ECMB, and Dome.
I can't figure out what's wrong and it's really pissing me off. This project has
been 3 years in the making and I have everything done but this.
Anyone have any ideas???
Sorry for the long post.

Sounds like you need to find out why all the fuse block isn't powered.

I went by my local dealership yesterday and talked with
a mech. and he gave me a detailed wiring diagram of the
engine compartment and fuse block along with a diagram
that shows the wires from the fuse block to the ignition
switch. Now I going to trace all my wires to see what the
problem is.

Sounds like a plan.

The problem was a wire that wasn't hooked-up. Hooked it up
and there was power to all that was dead. Paid $5.59 a gal.
for some Sunoco (sp?) 110 octane because the tank was empty
and I wanted to give her a drink of the good stuff. Hit the switch
and it turned over a couple of times and started right up. Man!
It's been three years in the making. Next get my driveshaft and
then off to be painted.

These pics are from a few weeks ago. I don't have any of the truck
yet because it's sh@*t brown & gold. I hope to have it in the paint
shop by the first of Dec.

Thanks for the comments. It has taken so long because anything that
could've went wrong did! I have learned a lesson from this build, NEVER
and I mean NEVER do a project in a friends shop! It strained our friendship
of more than 15 years to almost ending the friendship. I always had to wait
and work on it when it was best for him. Never again will I do something
like this without it being at my place.
that motor looks good, nice clean job, and gauges look good !!!!!!!!!!

Looks nice, bro..
One thing.. why are you runningi 110 octane? Are you afraid of detonation or something? My best advice would be to rig up a knock sensor and watch for knock counts. If you aren't getting any, don't use 110. Remember that 110 has a slower burn rate than 87-91 octane and you may actually 'hurt' your power output. That is, unless you are running 10.5:1 or greater, in which case 91 should still work fine.
Just my $0.02, because otherwise your project looks really good.
Take care,
Colin

Kind of expensive to drive, isn't it?
I've been getting away from the street machine thing. I can't see paying for racing gas just to go to Home Depot. My last few builds have been leaning towards smaller, more fuel efficient engines, and tuning on the rail, a dedicated race car.

My truck is my weekend toy, my everyday car is a BMW that's getting
around 28 mpg. I couldn't afford to drive my truck everyday.
