I want to improve my ride... but i dont know if i want to put money into the motor so i can race it, or just style my stuff. Or just do the style stuff this summer and engine upgrades next summer?
I want a body kit, drop, rims/tires, and paint. And i have also thought about racing, but i have 2.2l 4banger... could i hang with anything with the right mods?

I would say forget about racing. It won’t be economical for you at all. You should stick to looks for your 2.2.

Yeah... For you to make that truck anything worth trying to race in would take thousands and it would still be slow compared to cars that are considered to be fast stock.

I would say the best way to spend some money on your truck is either put a V8 in it but if that is not really an option, don't waste money on your 2.2. you will be very disappointed. just go buy a set of 18" wheels, cowl induction hood, roll pan, lowering kit, depending on your year truck, either a front end upgrade to the new style or just upgrade to projector style headlights. tonneau cover. things like that.
no body kit though, in my opinion, big waste of money. maybe put a new SS bumper cover and roll pan but thats all i would do. just some ideas.

HAHAHA that's the funniest thing I've heard in awhile.
It's true though, that's about all the 4 banger can take at the moment.
A little off topic, but speaking about racing I've been trying to get my neighbor down the street to race me in his little riced-out VW golf of whatever that thing is. He won't do it no matter what. I think he knows that I can take him, because all his car does is make farting noises all day

Yeah, just go visual with the 2.2L. I am in the same boat. I went with some Projector headlights and I love them. Throw on a roll pan, if you have a good bumper / valance combo dont waste money on those expensive (in my mind ugly) so called upgrades, drop it a few inches and put some new feet on it. Then either repaint it to update the color or get a new paint job.
I wasted money on Performance upgrades. The Dual Exhaust looks cool and at times can sound cool, but a Gibson Swept side would be your best bet if you want to upgrade the exhaust. And a CAI will get you like 1-3 mpg more.
You could always go E-Fan, with a 180 Thermo, then get some new spark plugs and get a fuel system service (cleaning injectors and pump.)

already got the headlights and corner lenses, and getting my drop/feet next week... so then roll pan, possibly front end... then paint then system.

2.2's are some of the weakest motors ever. I would stick to getting the girls in it.

You'll be going from 118B to 168B, 168hp isn't strong enough to haul that 3800ish/lbs truck in such a way that will please you.
I wonder if it can handle 75+?

black_X on s10forum ran a wynjammer s/c and a 50shot and was still only running high 14's to low 15's in the 1/4.........
nothing is gonna make them pleasing... but a 50shot would be some fun for like a half a second.
