I have found a fuel pump at a local salvage yard that is brand new OEM Delco fuel pump that the owner claims fits a 2000 s-10 with a steel tank and a 2.2, which is what my truck has. The owner of the junk yard claims that whenever you get a new pump, the new pump has to start with the same three letter code as the old pump. When he pulled the vin that the pump he has fits, it matches my pump. Before I bought the pump I checked my pumps code and it is not the same as the pump that the junk yard owner has. When I called the dealer they claim that the only pumps that you have to match the three letters of the code is full size trucks.
The pump code from the salvage yard is SGK my pump code is SGC. If you have any experience with chevy pumps please help me out.
Thanks in advance Aaron

i couldnt find any info on those first three letters of the part number... but the steel tank probably means that your truck is a flex fuel vehicle.....so that could be the difference between the two fuel pumps....if there is even a difference?.... probably wouldnt make a difference as long as you never used flex fuel

if the 8th digit in your vin is a 5 then your truck is flex fuel

I was told that the flex fuel trucks have plastic tanks instead of steel tanks. My truck has a steel tank and it isn't a flex fuel. The 8th digit on my truck is a 4 so according to everyone I talk to it has to have a regular fuel pump. I agree with the thought that their probably is no differance between flex and regular pumps. I just want to find out if their is any differance before I find myself in the middle of nowhere and find out the hard way their is a definant differance.
