ok so last saterday i put new break pads, suposivly they were high performance semi metallic.....HA!!!! what bullshit, they wont bring my truck to a full stop from 60MPH im going to return these shitty brake pads, i want to know what will be a good pair that will actually work? the ones i have heat up WAY to fast, i was doing 60MPH, i hit the breaks and went to about 10mph in about 400FT then went up to 30MPH then cams to a complete stop, when i shut off my truck all there was, was a pile of smoke comming from behind my wheels, i need a good break pad, the original pads worked exelent.

I have always used the lifetime warranty pads from Carquest. They seem to be close to OEM specs are far as performance goes but without paying OEM prices from the dealership.

I would get some that are meant for your application because those saturn sl2's weigh a heck of a lot less than that 4 door beast of a blazer

The reason those "high performance" pads weren't working is because they're meant for high performance sports applications. They don't even begin to start functioning how they're supposed to until they heat up to a certain temp.

The cheapest brake pads or the middle brand are usually the best for a daily driver. They're soft, and stop like a dream. I spent way more than I should have on rotors, calipers, extended stainless kevlar wrapped brake hoses, new lines and fittings and brake booster with new master cylinder, yet I bought the cheapest brake pads Napa had to offer because they stop a lifted truck with tall tires the best.

well i put new pads on, i can only use my dealer discount at 2 stores, pepboys and advanced auto, i went to pepboys and talked to the guy he said bring them back and i would get store credit, so i went to advanced and told the guy "i want a brake pad that actualy stops my truck, the guy asked what i drive and i told him and he said to use titainimum metallic pads, hes got them on his 98 4runner well i got them and paid put them on i also go my rotors "shaved" so the new pads could make there own footprint, and they work great, i still get that new break smell when i use then hard but other than that its all good. i asked both stores if they carried wagner breaks and they both said no and that NAPA had them but i dont have a dealer accout there, i think for my titainimum metallic pads i paid like 40$ so its all good now, ty for all of your sugestions
