View Full Version : Lil'Miss Muddy ..... In the Life & Times of a High Sierra

I bought this 87 GMC High Sierra 4x4 for 250$ as it is but I had to have it!

The process of fixing it up has begun and she's currently being fitted with the following creature comforts ~~ 94 black leather power Bravada seats, Bravada leather wrapped console w/ the seats controls, the leather wrapped power window/lock door panels & maybe the 94 digital dash IF possible :confused: or the 110 mph speedometer ...... can we say "Need for Speed" :devil: .

I have removed the following for these upgrades ~~ hood because it's dented in two places & the latch is bent beyond closing, the front fenders because they're rusted from the inside from the 4x4'ing :frustrate, the doors of course because they're going from those "Ol'Cranky" windows to the "Smooth Power Gliding" electric ones :cool: .

List of things to come ~~ Tilt steering column from an 83 Extended Cab 5spd GMC & Bed change because it's got a minor dent which could be 2x4'd out with a rubber hammer, a little fender well rust (nothing major!) but I'd rather skip as much bodywork as possible.

It's running but there's no radiator which hopefully I will get this weekend, it needs the front 4x4 switch wires replaced because they're fried, the passenger front axle seems to be very loose in/out, and the typical tune up maintenances.

future progress & upgrades to be shown once the $$$ is available each week .... even IF it's small & some what insignificant .... it'll be documented lol.

I can see it now.

Black grille gaurd with KC happy face lights, moon/sun visor with big rig amber cab marker lights, black bed rails, dual exhaust, lifted 5-6" on 33's mounted on Cragar black rims. CB radio and bed mounted whips along with a spare bed mounted 33" tire. Oooo ahhh. Oh ya, covered in mud. :devil:

LMFAO Rink :p it'll be something along the lines of that INDEED :devil: . As for the P.O.S "blue ovals" I'll not only be doing rooster tails on them but pullin'em apart :cool:

I was actually contemplating something like the honda's SUV truck thing has but it'll function as a roll bar/three way lock mechanism for the hardcover on the bed.


PROGRESS REPORT ~~ ripped the living sh!t out of the rubber mat & sound deadener :rolleyes: like it works anyways ..... going with something better just not sure yet. Test fitted the 94 Bravada seats & console .... they're perfect for an extended cab :D . It's late but I'm using (2) halogen lights and since my girlfriend either wants my attention or the dreaded j.o.b takes up my days I've decided this weekend There Will Be Progess!!!

I need to know if anyone has replaced their deadeners & carpet what did you use :confused: . Will rhyno liner or pore 15 help prevent rust & block out motor/trans noise inside before the deadener is applied under the carpeting???

still no pics :( but the tilt column is in & functioning with a brand new nice tri spoke Z34 Euro Lumina wheel :D . Bought a 1st gen Camaro radiator with electric fan and that's tomorrow's progress plans. Also going to try and do the wiring for the power windows, the black leather seats ontop of putting the used/new fenders & hood etc back on. I promise Saturday or Sunday to have pics :cool: .

where did you buy it(the truck)? it looks like whoever owned it before you never had it cleaned but used it extensively

I live in S.C where I bought the truck but @ one point in time it had a NJ inspection sticker (maybe hence the rust in the wheel wells & fenders).

The inside looks like it does because I've ripped the stock rubber mat & insulation for it out so it's bare floor ..... going to Rhyno or Herculine it hopefully. Recently seen Rink's pics about Herculining the outside of his truck & I figure this would be the time to do the inside & then outside like he did.
