i've noticed a loud squeaking sound coming from the front of my 03 s10 2.2 5spd
i'm pretty sure it's coming from the driverside wheel and not the brakes as it makes the sound whether the brakes are pressed or not. and if the truck is running or not. it's not the typical brake squeal either. the sound only occurs at a slow roll 1-5 mph. i haven't torn it apart yet but i plan to on friday. just hoping for suggestions before my blind search.

If you are sure its not brakes, then it may be a rock caught in the brake rotor scrapping against the backing plate or caliper. :)

it could be wheel bearings, the dusts heild has been bent and is touching the rotor, or your brake squealers . not really too much to pik from and the easiest way to find the problem is to take it apart!

bearings aren't that bad to replace or repack. If u have a 2wd its pretty easy, just take off the wheel, dismount the brake caliper from the disc, pry up the hub cover to uncover the castle nut that holds the hub/brake rotor in place. Undo that nut, and you can pull off the hub/brake rotor and easily get at your bearings :-). It's a bit messy trying to repack them though... I don't know how hard it is if you have a 4wd
